Please help if u can. I keep getting dreaded blue screen crashes. I have so many ,all different, that I can¬t post all here. I have looked in device mgr. and by Trident Video Accelerator. Blade 3D/ProMedia I have yellow warning sign. When I look under resources it says --This device is not working Code10. What does this mean? I have tried to uninstall, and it seems to work, but when I reboot it is exactly the same. What do I do & is this the cause of my crashes? As my name suggests, I am very new to computing, so replies in words of one syllable, please !!! Thanx in advance to anyone who tries to help. KLULYSS

    Hi

Which Windows version are you using?

We may need some of the errors and the error codes exactly as written to determine the issues you may have?

Code 10 is a driver is not working, so if its by your graphic card as in the Trident then its a faulting driver, so do you have the original CDs that came with the PC? or if the PC is a branded one what is its Maker ( as in DELL, HP etc ) and model number, the model number is generally on a sticker somehwere on the PC case.

Will need Windows version to try and find you a driver on the internet but this may not be easy, as the sites I tried before all the links were dead to that driver, but if you tell us which Windows Version your using in Windows 95 Windows 98 Windows 98SE Windows ME or Windows XP we maybe able to find a driver.

Dear Halo, many many thanks for your reply. Just the fact that someone may be able to help has lifted my spirits. I have Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2. The manufacturer is Tiny Computers. The troubleshoot wizard has asked me to install CD, but when I do it only seems to apply to a NVIDIA GeForce driver which is also installed. Is there another CD I should have? I am the second user of this computer as I bought it from a neighbour, but she gave me all the bits and pieces she had, so it maybe that I am not using the correct CD. I have tried a site at http://www.soft32.com/download_170947.html which Fabler suggested on this site, but although it comes up with the Trident driver and says Download, it won`t do it. Other info. you asked for --the computer model no. is CS778G-NJ manuf. OCT2002. Is this enough for now? Again I thank you & am so grateful for your time. KLULYSS:):)

    Hi

Tiny PC as you know by now went bust! and worse was Trident stopped making grahics chips so they have no support for these now, I do know that VIA the chipset maker had a spell in the late 90s early 2000s developing gfx chipsets for motherboads with Trident so I'm hopeing one of these will work, I woudl rather not just blindly guess as to what onboard chipset version from VIA is used, so please run this Everest Free once installed and run click Report > Report Wizard and choose Quick Report Summary and then Plain TEXT and just copy and paste the Motherboard and Display section into a post.

But also enter your Bios, on boot the key to press should pop up for a split second, and once inside the Bios, check that "init display first" is set to agp, if not change it, and save and exit Bios.

Hi, Halo, OK. I shall give it a go. Just 1 question, should I try to uninstall anything before I do? Also, when I went into BIOS at set-up I could not find anything like init. display first or agp. Am I looking in the right place? Hang on!! that`s 2 questions, sorry. Hope I`m not being a pain, but am living up to my name:eek::eek: KLULYSS

Hi nah not a pain at all, just wanting to find answers is all your doing, which is good.... :)

Well uninstall any graphics drivers you may have installed trying to fix this but other than that, nope.

I think as your graphics is onboard now reading the motherboard specs after we ID'd the motherboard you have that you can not bother with the Bios settings.

I just hope that you dont have a faulting motherboard which is a possability.

HI,Halo, I`m back, but I fear you`re going to tell me the worst, as I have tried in vain to download the drivers from the site U gave me, but even though it tells me I have had a successful download, when the system reboots I can find no trace of them on my device mgr, or on the add/remove site. I have upgraded a couple of utilities from this site as a test and they have appeared OK. The one strange thing is that I am no longer getting the BSOD`s, but after about 2hrs the computer just goes down!! Is it time to give up? KLULYSS:(:cry

    Hi

No more BSODs is a good step forward.

When you say the system goes down can you elaborate more?

Do you still have the yellow ! mark by Video? also do you have any other yellow ! marks in Dev Mgr, if so what?

If a PC randomly shutsdown after a period of time its likely that it is getting too hot, and to this is the inside of the PC clean from dust are the cooling fans in the case and on the CPU all free from dust ( DO turn the PC off when opening the case or get someone whos confident in opening PC cases to help you if your not )

But test your temps with Everest which you will have loaded earlier and once run goto Computer > Sensor and see if it lists temps for your Motherboard and or CPU, if so after say 1hr of normal use what are they, above 50c and you may have a heating issue, which can and does cause many many weird issues ranging from software crashes to lockups to driver issues.

Hi, again. Have been plucking up courage to remove casing & clean!! MEGA dust!!!. have done it tho, but sad to say, am still crashing. Temp between 43-48 deg. Yes, still have yellow warning by Trident Blade. I just cannot uninstall it. I cannot seem to install the other drivers that MSi says I can. Although I am getting the screen that says download successful, when I check Dev. Mgr. nothing has changed. I`m driving myself mad!!!:(:( KLULYSS

I slightly lost as to sucessful download? you need to downlaod it to your PC, on download do not choose RUN but choose Save then once downloaded you need to just double click the kleXP49.exe file and it should in theory automatically install.

If on install you get any error mesages please let me know what they are.

Also try installing the driver in Safe Mode and unhook from internet and turn yoru antivirus software off, outside chance it may interfear with the install, rare but can happen.

To uninstall and have XP add its own default driver and note that screen quality is reduced until you install a proper full graphics driver, you can just in Dev Mgr uninstall the display driver ( may need XP cd for this also ) but best to do this in Safe Mode ( F8 at boot )
