"Yes No" box at login. cannot get past help

hi,

I've got a desktop runnign windows xp sp1. when i turn the computer on it starts up fine and then gets to the login screen and there is a little box with "yes" and "no" and a little red cross in the corner. it is impossible to get past and therefore i can not login. i've tried safe mode(which works) and have done an offline update and scan with norton but didn't find anything.

anyone had this problem before? any suggestions on what i can do?

Please follow the steps below! We want them run in safe mode anyway except the HJT log. But if you still cannot get into normal boot mode after running the cleanup steps, post the HJT log from safe mode.

Question: does this happen for all user accounts?

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:
