Yesterday, my cell phone

took a tumble, landing on the concrete landing at the base of our steps. Granted, we had planned on getting new phones this weekend but this is ridiculous. You know how embarrassing it is to have to email your immediate family members requesting they email you back with their phone numbers? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/thud.gif LOL

Amazingly, it still works for the most part:) Only the screen is shot so I can't tell who's calling or access any of the menus to retrieve phone numbers, voice mail, etc.

Thank the cell phone genie for sims cards. I'll be able to use it to retrieve all my info once I get the new phone.

I have learned a valuable lesson..don't rely on technology alone to store important info. I will be purchasing an address book this weekend too...one of those where I have to actually get a pen and write out the info. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/nowords.gif

At least the screen has this retro, psychedelic thing going on with such pretty colors. LOL

...Pity 'bout the phone. Might want to consider some places can replace just the screen. Had it happen myself, actually. At least it will be useable/sellable.

    Oooooooo....purty colors! :D

That just happened to my mom's phone. She dropped it and the outside screen cracked. I Did fix it so she could flip open her phone and see on the inside who was calling before answering. She wasn't liking that too much.

Yes indeedie those are trippy colours!!

Yes exactly on contact numbers I have as I get older become more anal about the amount of places I store/backup contact details not just off the phone but email address books. I use the Nokia soft to backup the sim and numbers to PC.

    Whats a PEN? ;)

It's like a pencil, but less reliable. Dang high tech.

Thanks for the tip:)..might come in handy some time down the road. The phone I have now was already pretty beat up and has many other issues to boot so fixing this one isn't anything I would consider.

The colors are purty aren't they? LOL

The image I attached is the inside screen. There is a very small screen on the outside..probably 3/4 of an inch square but even with my glasses on the display is so small I can't make it out.

It's driving me nuts answering the phone not knowing who's calling. I can sure sympathize with your mom...

    You ARE anal aren't you?;)

What a PITA this has been I tell ya! I'm kinda nauseous just thinking about using a pen and paper...;)

LOL...glad my misfortune led you to make a backup. Sure wish I had. I actually thought about doing it several times..never followed through. *kicks self in the arse*

You're lucky, a friend of mine broke her phone. It... 'impacted' the ground, and being a flip phone, the screen broke off. Worse, the ribbon cable broke, and so did the speaker wire. She ended up having to replace the entire thing.

On the other hand, I have a Nokia that I've, dropped, walked on, and it still functions perfectly. Not flippy at all. Go figure.

Ouch... good thing it happened when you were already considering replacing the phone, and not right after you did..... I keep all my contacts on both my palm pilot, my PC, my lap top and my phone. I update the palm and puters once a week with any new contacts. Nice thing is that I can load them into Outlook on the desktop and then just update the palm and then sync it with the laptop as well.

Hey AS... hope that you and Star are doing well (if I just put my foot in my mouth, I apologize... haven't been around in a while) Am WiFi fishing at the NYS Fairgrounds right now... kinda like the old LAN party days since I brought my desktop..... my laptop wasn't up to what I needed to do while I had Net Access :)

So, if I don't get to come back soon, I will say hi to AS and Star here and the rest of you elsewhere. :)

I had the same problem once and learned the hard way about loosing info.

i have a 4gb flash drive and scan all documents that are important to me into the PC then load it to the flash plus my address book so i am never far from getting it all back.

ps we are phone freaks in our house we change at least twice a year so if you call round i can let you have a choice of replacement (last count 12 handsets)
