Yikes!!

Windows XP Professional PC
Installed windows updates and office updates
Restarted machine

Got an error message about lsasrv and everything stopped.

Can start in normal and safe modes now but can do nothing else

AVG, Stinger, SPySweeper, CWShredder, Hijack This and AVG's VCLEANER all report the PC as being free of any infections

SFC will not run, I mean it comes up but the blue line never even starts to appear. System Restore gives me a message saying that it cannot protect my system and to just restart and try again.

The task bar is nothing more than a line accross the bottom of the screen, I had to add the Address toolbar just to get a visible start button to make it easier to access My Computer, Control Panel etc.

Oh and to cap it all, none of the windows or office updates I installed can be removed through control panel.

Its not often I get stuck but this has me beat.

All advice greatly appreciated.
