You fine folks down under have a real jewel in jazz singer Nina Ferro. Her voice is one in 100 million. Is she well known there? I first heard her singing with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band (USA) on the "Riverwalk" radio program (out of Austin, Texas).
She is simply superb, stunning, amazing. Her voice gives me goose bumps.

Sorry zimpal, I'm not into jazz. My 2 boys are into the modern "tomtom" music I call it. Same beat through most of it, different "singers", obscure and obscene lyrics, etc.

Me, I prefer most other stuff. Golden oldies, old rock and roll, comedy like Stan Freberg and How green is my Cactus (OZ related), Creedence and Cold Chisel.I guess my taste is eclectic as I just ordered the DVD of Carmen Jones which is an old movie (one of the first with an all negro cast) with modern lyrics ( 60's) re-write of Bizet's opera Carmen. Love Dorothy Dandridge, as well, as a bonus. Bazza

Our version of American Idol (Australian Idol :D ) is certainly turning up new talent, though. Bazza

Have to agree with Baz on that one. I don't mind Jazz in moderation, but unless it's something real special, I get bored very quick with it.

Yup, most of the 'Golden Oldies' are cool!

I listen to anything, as long as it's worth listening too...

I grew up listening to my parents kind of music, like right now Im listening to Jefferson Starship - We Built This City... or just before that, Itchycoo Park and KLF - Justified & Ancient (Moo Moo Land)....

I listen to moderm music, but I cant stand most of it, im 23, and think that todays music lacks a proper rythem like the 80's and 90's, and 70's had, plus in a sense it's like techno, same chorus over and over again, dont get me wrong, I like modern music, and techno, but I'm a bit choosy, I listen to Usher, some 50 cent, slew of eminem, black eyed pea's, etc

But if I had to choose to what I was able to listen too, I`d have to go for the songs from when I was born... they seem to sound the best!

Also appearing on the latest releases of Ministry of Sound's Chillout Sessions and Sounds Like Café compilations. I haven't bothered myself but you may like it. Bazza

    "comedy like Stan Freberg"
Hey Baz, one of the funniest comedy bits ever was Stan's Los Veloces, Nevada; The Town That Pushed It's Own Button. El Rancho Gomorrah and the Club Sodom. Famed English Channel swimmer Florence Chadwick trying to swim the pool at El Rancho Gomorrah -- and failing because someone tampered with her warm, nourishing broth. Final show at the Gomorrah: Tonight, one night only, on stage, live . . . The ATOM BOMB! Great stuff. :D Okay, hiajck over, back to jazz ;)

billH, you must be an old b*st*rd like me to remember Stan Freberg, especially if you have it on vinyl. Did you spot him in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World movie. He was a cop in the office. Didn't say a word, just a true cameo appearance. Hi jack over, back to jazz, also. Bazza
