On tv the other day, probably shark week, they claim 60 million sharks are killed daily, That is so hard to imagine.

Some people make ridiculous claims. Unfortunately most go unchallenged and become a sort of folklore.

60 million sharks a day works out to 21,900,000,000 a year. That's 21 billion, or so. There are different number of zeroes for billion in different countries.

Either way, even 60,000,000 sharks per YEAR is wrong, in my uneducated opinion. Bazza

Mine too, they were making a comparison between numbers of people killed by sharks vs sharks by people. They think sharks are good and left alone they won't hurt you. Good Grief!

Actually we only get basking sharks round here. They are vegetarian, but huge - like small whales.

If you go diving in the Lundy marine nature reserve you may be lucky enough to swim with one.

Officially no human has ever been (recorded as) attacked by a shark in European waters.
