What adobe website? What OS are you running.
You may have downloaded flash but unless you use Adobe's cleanup tool, the new version won't install. This fact is hidden layers deep on Adobe's site instead of on the download page.

Please post a link so I have an idea - there are a lot of sites out there.

scroll to the very bottom and grab the windows uninstaller.

I doubt adobe reader is causing CPU spikes because Adobe Reader should not be running when you are surfing. If you have it running, why?

    adobe hangup

thanks to plodr and others. the youtube thing is not important.what confuses me is that every time i get to a adobe website the cpu hangs at 99%.i may have tinkered far above my actual abilities.i ran regclean and microsofts super cleaner and now cant see some pictures using boingboing as a reference. tried all the usual properties checks but the weird thing is adobe sites still hang.

Only thing that I can think is your rig is looking for updates. It's just a shot in the dark though.

    Hi

Likely you have an old addon in your browser for maybe Adobe Flash or Shockwave that may cause a hang on the Adobe pages, so as memtioned above do update your adobe flash and adobe shockwave players.

you can also test to see if indeed its an addon to your browser causing this by loading the no add-ons version of IE ( goto Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and load Internet Explorer no-addons ) and you can do same if you have Firefox as your browser as in its Start Menu folder is a a Safe Mode version.
