    Time to start this off again. Been ages since we had a column on quotes.

    Here goes (from Forest Gump).

    "I happen to believe you make your own destiny. You have to do the best you can, with what God gave you."

    My Momma always said: "You got to put the past behind you before you can move on".

    "Have you found Jesus yet, Gump?"
    "I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for him, Sir."

    "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get."

    Bazza :D

    The thought manifests as the word;
    The word manifests as the deed;
    The deed develops into habit;
    And habit hardens into character;
    So watch the thought and its ways with care,

    I have dozens of favourite quotes, from the humorous and trivial, to the profound and moving. Here's a few that came to mind, recentlty.

    One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything. ~ Georg C. Lichtenberg:

    I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it. ~ Harry S Truman:

    He only profits from praise who values criticism. ~ Heinrich Heine:

    Always do right--this will gratify some and astonish the rest. ~ Mark Twain:

    Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. No man has learned anything rightly, until he knows that every day is Doomsday ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson:

    Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson:

    Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson (probably erroneously):

    Bessy Stanly's points to success :

    To laugh often and much;
    To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
    To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
    To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
    To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
    To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
    This is to have succeeded.

    ~~~
    ...And if all that's too 'heavy', the the last word belongs to Bill Cosby:
    A word to the wise ain't necessary, it's the stupid ones who need the advice. ;)
    Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. ~Buddha
