Is this a good card for the price. My old card was a Nvida GT6600.

    XFX 6800 512MB EXTREME VIDEO CARD, $310.

    Or this one,

    XFX 7600GT 256MB PCI-EXPRESS VIDEO CARD $382.

I dont want to spend any more than $350, however could push it to $400.

This is the site I found them on.

    Thanks in advance.

    P.S I live in Australia

i would go with the 6800,the chipset is not that old and it will support games for years to come, plus the VRAM difference will make it worth while in the long run for the "visually demanding" games that'll come out later.

p.s. you can alwalys overclock the 6800 if you want faster performance.

holy crap those prices are outrageous    Where do u live? If you live within Newegg's (www.newegg.com) shipping area then thats the way to go. Ive got the 256mb version of that XFX 6800XT and it does grea and when overclocked to 500/1300 (as compared to 350/1000 stock) i get a 3dmark03 score of about 11700 and compared to the 7600GT which gets about 12800. The bad thing tho is that it cant handle higher resolutions very well because of its low fill rate and from that, i doubt that the 512mb of vram would be worth the extra cash. It can run games like FEAR, AOE3, BF2, HL2/CS:S maxed out at 1024x768 res which looks darn good. It does have a problem with the soft shadows in FEAR but thats expected. If this is US dollars then check out the 7800GS.
