    Hey

Having trouble using YouTube. All sorts of difficulty viewing - audio out of sync with the video. Have been trying to play about with the settings, enabling/disabling hardware accelleration!

Had a look in the Add/Remove Programs, and seen alot of Flash Player entries. Here is the list I have installed. Which of these do I need and which can I remove?

    Adobe Air
    Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX
    Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin
    Adobe Shockwave Player 11

I also have AC3 Filter installed, SoundMAX installed. I have various codec packs installed which I think is OK.

My Java version is 7 update 21.

What do I need to do in order to watch multimedia on the web esp YT - I can watch Movies normally on VLC/WMPlayer/Real Player etc...

    Thanks

    D

Graphics card/drivers and browser(s) used are relevant to Flash problems.

Java is irrelevant (as is Shockwave Player and Air) for Youtube, it is also a target for attack if the plugin is enabled in your browser(s). Do you really need Air or Java?

Like Adry, I too use HTML5 on Youtube, if a movie isn't available in that format, it should fall back to Flash.

You could try uninstalling Flash and installing the long-term 10.3.x release, it may not be as full-featured but it's stable and fully patched security-wise. http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

    Visit this site:

    https://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html

Note: The Settings Manager that you see on this page are NOT an image; they are the actual Settings.

These are my settings, and with Hardware Acceleration turned OFF, I do fine. Try these settings on your machine...

Also I've had good results increasing the value of this Firefox setting, if you use Firefox, type
    Code:
    about:config
into the address bar, say OK to the warning, then find this setting:
    Code:
    browser.sessionstore.interval
And increase it to 70,000. This can reduce jumpiness of streamed video...

The latest Flash Player version 11.7.700.169 has a known sound bug in it; it is fixed in the current Flash Player beta 11.7.700.191: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html (which will be released shortly).

I have just spent four hours trying to get YouTube to work on my laptop,
running Windows 7. I have downloaded the latest Flash, and Adobe Shockwave, uninstalled and reinstalled three times, searched all over the net, did all the fixes recommended, such as various things in internet options.
Just when I was about to throw the blasted thing at the wall I noticed that in the Tools menu in IE that Active X Filtering was checked. I unchecked it and now YouTube is back to normal. I have no idea how it was checked, I don't even know what it does but I am just thankful the problem is fixed. I could play the videos in Chrome but not being able to use IE would have just kept bugging me! Maybe this fix might help someone else.:)

If it is IE10, TragicX filtering is checked out of the box. Stop using Flash at Youtube, use the html5 side of it.

Actually it is still EXplorer 9. I rarely use this laptop so 9 is okay for the moment. I looked up html5 but I have to confess it looked too complicated for my old brain. I tried to download but it rejected me! Now I feel hurt:(

    Go here:

    https://www.youtube.com/html5

And click to join... there is a list of supported browsers, and it will tell what video will play in html5 based on what you're running...

Stop using IE9, and switch to either Chrome or Firefox. I only use Internet Explorer, due to the plug-in for IE, for the Foscam FI9821W IP camera that we have, to watch out our front window, is the only one that will cooperate with IE, vs the plugins for Chrome or Firefox.

That is the only time I use IE10. The rest of the time, it is Chrome with the following extensions: WOT (Web of Trust), Adblock Plus, Weather Watcher, and that is all I am using with Chrome.

We still use IE7 at work, which is a state government employer, and the excuse from CMS for the State of Illinois, is that IE9 is not compatible with some of the sites they use, even though there is some simple things they can do to fix that problem, or even we have discussed going with apps written for Chrome, to get away from IE all together.

CMS refuses to move into the modern age, let alone fix a memory leak with one of the sites we use at our agency, that is due to jsquery, causing IE7 to go from 49meg at startup, to 150meg in fifteen minutes, and have seen it grow to as much as over 800meg for the memory leak, within five hours. They have state that there is not a problem with IE7 or the site, and that it is a issue with the workstation, even though those of us that have been around computers, longer than most that are at CMS, have shown them how to fix this issue, let alone shown them up that we know more how to do their job, than they do.

Sorry for the rant, but it is Sunday, and come morning my day of dealing with the above starts all over again for the next five days for nine hours, and did I mention that I do not like IE.

    Hi

Have tried various combinations following pointers here........no improvement thus far.

    Still at square 1.

There must be a fool proof way of getting around this. I've found HTML5 is actually worse. The more stable version of flash player recommended offers nothing different.

I'm using an LCD monitor, nothing works.

Any way of achieving faultless full screen streaming has become impossible.

    Help!
