    Win 8.1 x 64;

    I need to open a zip file . Can you recommend one that is free yet reliable?
    for 64 bit?

    I looked in the store but the reviews were poor.

    Thanks

    Windows opens zip files without third party assistance. Is there more to this than simply unzipping files?

    I always thought it did but was unsure so I Googled "Win 8.1 native zip file opener".
    It did not show as it was part of the OS.

    I was looking for an easy to read cpu heat and fan speed program as my laptop has been running hotter and the fan runs more often. I have thoroughly cleaned the exterior and lower the max power by 1 %. I also dropped about 100 MB.
    My wife swears it is the same as ever. She was running it on her lap which is not a good idea. We now run it on a hard surface.
    If necessary I have a good tutorial for cleaning and applying Arctic Silver but that is down the road.

    I had found a result which was a zip file. I will open it now.

    Thank you for updating me.

    Thank you. I will keep it in mind but for now, Plodr's suggestion using file explorer suits my needs.
