Zipped files

Maybe this is a no brainer, but I can't figure it out.
A friend gave me a cd with a program on it for me to use. The files are zipped. I tried unzipping them with winzip, but says it can't open them. Says I don't a program to open them then searches for a program and sends me to a website to download Stuffit.

Is there any other way to open these? I am on dialup (sigh) and says download will take 1 1/2 hours to complete.

And, after I get them open, I should be able to use the program right? lol

What program did your friend send you. it may require a different program to open it. just like programs that end in .doc are for Microsoft Word and ones that are .html are for the web.

 

The program is for helping with my digital camera. For blending photos into backgrounds, It's like Photoshop, I think.
File ends with .pf

Does this help? I don't know the exact name of the program.

Is it .pf or .pdf? im not sure what it is considering that are like 6 programs that use the .pf file extension. my advice is to call your friend or get in touch with him and ask him what he normally uses to open the program. then u know thats what you need to have to open the program.

He is gone for the weekend, so guess I'll wait till Monday to ask him and find out.

I do have Irfanview, though. Might this work to open it?
I wanted to goof around with it this weekend. Oh well.

I think I need some added step by step instructions. It just isn't working.
It asks me what I want to use to open the file, it unzips, but then nothing,....

Can someone give me instructions on how to unzip and install a program off a cd.

The file is named ********.pf
