Zone Alarm Antivirus doesn't seem to be a "favorite" here (couldn't find a review for it) and so, i was wondering if anyone has adopted it as firewall and antivirus combo? Good and easy updates on new bugs?

    Thanks!

Zone Alarm is only a firewall; it has no anti-virus capability.

When I saw the question my reaction was the same as solaris, but I double checked and saw that Zone Alarm does indeed have a new antivirus bundle. It may be that it is too new to have been reviewed by many.
I use zone alarm firewall exclusively but am personally wary of the bundled products (norton, mcafee, even panda) It has seemed to me that they can usually do one part of the equation well and crappy on the other. i.e. great firewall, crappy antivirus or they are resource hogs.
Hopefully someone else will read your post that has used the combination and give you their two cents worth.

Thanks MechGeek. Do hope a user will post his/her positive/negative thoughts on this. It isn't expensive either.

Was not aweare of that, thanks for the info. I've used Zone Alarm in the past, wasn't too impressed by it; eye-candy never made me feel more secure. I feel there are a couple alternatives that are much better, Outpost and Kerio come to mind.

Just read some info at their site, the 'security suite' package comes with anti-virus protection, along with the firewall. They still have a stand-alone firewall, but have no desire to switch from Outpost.

Outpost is featured here next to Zone Alarm.
Zone Alarm's present firewall-antivirus combo is much less expensive.

Why not just use the Zonealarm Free firewall and AVG free antivirus? Both do the job.

I prefer Outpost and Avast .
I've had trouble in the past with ZA not completely removing itself on uinstall causing havoc with new programs installed that accessed the net. I had to re-install ZA to set the access again. I never really figured out how to fully clean it out...not that I looked that hard either.

on the advice of people here, i use zonearlarm (free) as my firewall, and antiVir personal (also free) for the antivir. both seem to do just fine. aloha

ps. in addition, i also use spybot, and spyblaster and would suggest you do the same.

Guess as Yukon98 said, perhaps the easiest solution is to use ZA + AVG free editions.

But i still hope to hear from someone who has used ZA + AV combo.

I use the firewall and antivirus suite. I like it, and haven't had any problems with it. It automatically updates the virus definitions every day, and I haven't had any problems with viruses. It also has some other features that I haven't tried much, but they sound like good ideas if I ever get around to using them.
