Hi, Recently [someone] opened a file on my pc containing a keylogger/av kill + firewall kill, This caused Zone alarm pro to crash, and Norton av to be disabled, After a day or two I managed to get rid of the keylogger, but couldn't figure out how to get ZAP to begin working again, so I figured I'd reinstall it...

I uninstalled it, rebooted, then downloaded it [from MG] and installed it, then rebooted again. Everything started up as usual, but just as my desktop appeared, my system shut down, and kept doing the same thing everytime I tried to startup. So I started my pc in safe mode, removed ZAP using the add or remove programs icon in the control pannel, and restarted, Which worked...

But now I am stuck without ZAP and am woundering if anyone could help?
Aslo: When booting up, norton is automatically disabled and I must manually enable it each time, any ideas?

To fully uninstall Zone Alarm follow the below
    http://nh2.nohold.net/noHoldCust25/Prod_1/Articles55646/CompleteUninstallNonNT.html

Zone Alarm is known to leave left over files on your PC that can hinder re-install OR you could try another Firewall program eg. Outpost or Sygate

Try these steps for Norton as its quite likely the autoprotect service is disabled/stopped ( dont know your version but steps are likely to be same )

I was/am having a similar problem. After I uninstalled in safe mode, I reinstalled ZoneAlarm in safe mode. ZoneAlarm worked, but I am still having trouble connecting to the internet. Seems I have to keep "punching buttons" until it connects after sitting idle for more than a few minutes.

In my case, I had already downloaded the program in normal mode, then rebooted in safe mode and installed ZA from there.

Lots of people with ZA problems lately! What's going on with them?

    Good luck
