Ok i am using Norton 2005 AV and Sygate pro firewall..I am happy truth be told with both of them..I know some say Norton is bloatware but it works great for me and has caught everything upto know, and as for Sygate i cannot fault it..So i am not leaning towards Zone Alarm Security suite 6 due to anything against what i have, i am more interested in knowing is Zone Alarm Security suite 6 as good as i have been reading.

The all in one features sounds real good with the spyware integration added in this release. Having one all in proggy sounds pleasing to me.

I am leaning towards buying it and giving it ago but i would like to hear from first hand users from MGs users.

So any oppinions from those who have it, or know enough about it i would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanx..

    Hi scouse,
Been using ZAP for a while now and it has been running fine on my pc.Some people are having issues as happens with most software.

I am not running the AV side of it as I have read in their forum ZAP help forum that the Escan engine shipped with ZAP is different and not as good as the standalone version.

Don't know why this is and I could be wrong on that aspect. The antispyware side of things seems ok but I still have Ewido and MSantispy as on demand.

As a firewall and program control I would say it would have to be one of the best. But go by the old saying-if it works for you and your happy with it,stay with it.

ZoneAlarms firewall has to be one of the best I've ever seen. As for the rest of the Suite, there are definitely better AV and anti-spyware apps available then those in the ZA Security Suite. I'd stay with what you have already for AV+Firewall.

You could download the trial before you buy to make sure this is what you want. Ive never used the new spyware intergrated module in the new 6.0 versions, so cant help you with that. But Zone Alarm Security Suite antivirus is based apon eTrust VET antivirus engine. Which is an alright antivirus but there is better.

Norton just released the 2006 version of there products, if you got the money maybe you could upgrade or you can download the trial to see if its lighter/heavier on your system ;)

You guys beat me too it :p

Yeah I can finally reply now :)

I have Zone Alarm. I would say I have been quite pleased with it.

Last year, I had to reload Windows after getting major attack from trojans viruses and spyware. I had Zone Alarm, but it was too little, too late.
Ever since, zilch has come in. I had Adaware and Spybot and they find nothing either.

As another saying goes, if it aint broke, why fix it. if what you have works fine, then keep it.

However I do find Zonealarm very very easy to configure.

Thanx everyone for the cool replies, i got good feed back which is what i wanted so again thanx.. :)

I think i will stick with my Nav for now but i am definetly going to give Z.A firewall a go instead of my sygate, sounds like it may be worth a look at how it does on my computer compared to Sygate..(not together focourse :))

Reading what you have all said, my Nav is fine and worth keeping, my spytware tools are better than Z.A built in one..But Z.A firewall is worthy of a trial downlaod and purchasing if i like it. :)

    Thanx again all..

I prefer sygate, since it gives a ton more info on what is happening, vice ZA's pathetic "click here for more info".

I've tried version 6. Not bad. But had issues with running on machines with multiple logon accounts. Though, they (ZA) recently came out with a new version. So, I'll have to give it a shot.

I'm using ZAP 6 and have no problems with it. The firewall is good though I wouldn't rely on the antispy, it is a handy supplement of limited value. I use AVG for anti-virus. As for Norton, I wouldn't let any one of their bloated products near any of my systems. :)

I didn't like version 6 (pro) at all. It stopped a lot of things from working on the internet that I actually wanted to work. It also threw back some strange messages, which aren't very discernable to an average user like me.

I've used ZA for about a year, but I have to say it has been a struggle with the new release. I tried Pro and after a few days, could no longer send email. I finally unloaded it and just installed the Basic (free) version. Fine for a few days, but then any time I left my computer idle for more than an hour (still logged in), it would say I was no longer connected to the internet. Modem said I was, but could not connect. Would have to reboot computer to get on-line or check email.

I finally decided to uninstall it today and do a clean install of ZA Basic of an earlier version. Cannot load ANY version any more. It will download, but will not install. Very, very frustrating and I am now back to using the absurd windows version until I find something else.

They should have left well-enough alone in my opinion.

ZoneAlarm Security Suite is excellent and gets very high reviews.

The only thing lacking is Spam control, but you would still run a dedicated spam filter.

Sigh...I have, but I am not liking it much better. I have functionality, but cannot seem to stop the little alerts in the lower right hand corner saying something about NDIS (i/o driver). I have no idea what this is, whether to allow it, if I allow it how do I accomplish that, and how do I get it to stop making that little alert tone!!???!!!

It will alert me to the dumbest stuff...like...using Firefox to access the web. Suddenly, it will alert me to a website change and ask if I want to block it. It might be a site I don't recognize so I block it. Then I can't use Firefox again until I restart the blasted computer.

I can't figure out how to allow something after first blocking it and researching it. My options are to allow all, block all, or normal. Normal doesnt restore anything and I don't want to say allow all (but had to once).

Where can I find help on using this? It's not available inside the software... and I can't find a link to their website.

Norton is actually a top rated antivirus, also one of the best in detection rate. Yes some people have problems running Norton on there computer eg; resource hog. This is not on everyones computer. All the antiviruses followed are already cracked: NOD32, Norton, McAfee, CA, AVG, Avast, Dr.Web, Zone Alarms antivirus, MKS_vir, F-Prot, F-Secure, Trend Micro, BitDefender, and Kaspersky. You should run a scan with your antivirus at least 1 time a week too insure you have nothing bad on your computer.

    That's not exclusive to Norton.
