Zone Alarm Pro is killing me

ZAP is having a horrible time on my new Toshiba laptop. Even at lower settings, it hangs a lot of things from loading quickly, or efficiently.

When i have time, i'll deal with Tech support or their forums to trouble shoot, but in the meantime, may i ask what are the other free firewalls that everyone likes these days? I am using microsoft's built in FW for the moment along with NOD32/eset. I am always connected via wireless or hardwired to a router. (dsl)

Windows xp pro, Toshiba Tecra M5, 1.83ghz, 1 gig ram, 100hd.

Most decent Firewalls ZA Free/Pro for example take awhile to configure themselves to your usage and can be a P.I.T.A. to begin with, but once configured settle down. That may not be the answer you wanted, but being a ZA user its the best I have for what you describe.

Might wish to give this free one a trial and see if its better on your laptop than ZA Comodo Personal Firewall

It gets some good reviews at the likes of PC Mag and I knwo a few here like it too, I've not used it as I'm a ZA user and as I have it all setup as I want it, you'll apprieciate I'm not going to trial it just yet to give you a personal review.

Make sure you have disabled windows firewall when ZA is enabled to avoid any conflicts!!

ZA should be good, but as halo suggests, Comodo is also an excellent choice!
