Zone alarm question!!

I think my firefox is messing up because of Zone Alarm.
When click on a page it says "This document contains no data".
Then, if i click it once more, it works...
What could this be?

I don't think it's possible that ZA is the villain here. ZA can't flip-flop, and allow a site to load when it DIDN'T allow that site to load a moment earlier. If you're getting the Web at all, then your firewall isn't the blocker-problem.

I use both Firefox and ZA (free) on this machine, and there's no conflict at all. But I DID have a problem with Firefox 0.9.2 not loading sites properly. Have you checked to see that you have the latest PR or RC version? And if you upgrade, there are two important things: First, open your Tools>Extensions control and disable all of your current extensions (because even though the new installer will tell you it has disabled all old extensions, it doesn't work all the time), and second, when you UNINSTALL your current version of Firefox (it leaves your profile alone, so don't worry about bookmarks and settings) before you INSTALL the new version, make sure you click the OK button when it asks you whether you want to completely delete the old Mozilla Firefox folder.

 

What's PR and RC?

 

"Preview Release" (I think) and Release Candidate (I think). I'm never sure about these silly terms for what we used to call BETAs 1, 2, and 3, or whatevere.

Anyway, hit the Firefox throbber (JIC you don't know that term, it's the icon in the top right corner of a browser that changes its image while a page is loading) and it'll take you to the page to get the latest steady version, and my bet is that you'll have one fewer problems today. But remember what I said above about uninstalling and cleaning. Otherwise, you're bound to have new problems.

Yeah, I'm hanging with the PR for the time being. The fact that most of the people working on this project are volunteering means that things don't always get done as fast as you'd like to see them get done.

OTOH, I absolutely LUV my Firefox 1.0 PR!

 

there is a workaround for the extensions.
In your extension.rdf file for your profile change
maxVersion="0.10" to maxVersion="1.0" .. there may be many..

I dunno, but it does this in IE aswell.
Except in IE it says it cannot find the page...

Have you tried loading a page without a firewall just to eliminate it from likely causes?

How long has it been doing this, and have you installed anything or changed settings at the same time this started?

 

1.0PR is great!

I had CR1 for a day, and all i had was crashes, and lockups. This is a warning: Stay away from CR1.

I have run ZA, and segate firewall with Firefox no problem.
