    Hi,

I don't know if this the right forum to ask, but.
I'm trying to test the secure ID part of my newly acquired Zone Alarm Security Suite. As part of this test and learning experience I added one of my general log in passwords to the vault. By doing this ZA is supposed to alert me whenever I try to send the password. Works great for e-mail. However, I noticed that for several sites I did not get a notification. A post on the ZA forum got a reply that the alert does not occur if the site is secure (https). However when I log on to Major Geeks it sails right through. So, I thought I'd ask if the login is a secure process. I don't see the "s" in the URL but there is a "php" that I am not familiar with.

    Thanks in Advance

Well, typically, for these sites, MG (I could be wrong), does not require 128 bit encryption to log on.

Though, mainly these sites use mysql to create accounts to post within the forum. MySQL is a very decent and secure (non-https) site to post within. More than likely, you need not to worry.

When it comes to things like password managers and ID Vaults for internet sites, I've yet to see a program that works on every one as there are so many variables between the sites.

ZA is better than most, but it's not perfect.

As far as this place is concerned, there is no problem.

    Some Clarification

    Hi Folks,

Some clarification on my request and an answer.

First, I was not being critical of MG or in any way concerned about posting here. My testing was about Zone Alarm and I was using MG (and others) to try to figure out what ZA was doing. MG is a great site and their Spyware forum just bailed me out of AGBOT (thanks Chaslang).

Now an answer to my testing of ZA. I posted on the ZA forum (security issues) and got one of their users interested. He looked around here a bit and found that MG does encrypt the password; so that could be the reason ZA lets it go.

I will also explore the suggestion to clear cookies and see if that has an effect but I think the encryption is why ZA lets the password go thru.

Thanks again for the follow up and help.
