zone alarm

Help, ive uninstalled norton system works, norton AV and norton internet security and replaced them with other proggies, problem now is i dont know how to configure zone alarm to allow my 2nd pc to work on the home network, it wont connect to the internet, and says, make sure you are connected to the internet.

Step by step instructions needed.

First thing i would try is set the program control setting to medium, as im using pro but by default the program control was set to high and this disabled internet access for my network

 

my zone alarm is the free version and on program control the slider is set to med automatically. i just need to find out how to let the 2nd access my docs of pc1 and access the internet etc

 

place the IP of the second PC in your trusted zone. Or better yet, place the IP RANGE of your network in your trusted zone.

 

OH bugger i posted the wrong option what i meant to say was the slider in the internet zone

select the firewall tab then main, there you will see the sliders for the internet and trusted zones

once these were set to medium ZA picked up my network allowing it to be placed in the trusted zone

Sorry about that, really should look at what im doing

 

I only have two pcs on the network, if i put the range as IP address on Pc 1 and IP address on Pc2 will that be right? i know its prolly a simple task but im not too sure and dont wanna mess my pcs up again.

If you do as i posted the second time ZA should pick up your network and ask if you want it placed in the trusted zone

Its worked, do i leave the slider at medium now? am i open to other peoples pcs not on my network being able to get in if its left on medium?

If you wish to keep internet access for your network leave it on medium, i have had mine set up for as long as i can remember and ive never had a problem

 

will no other outside pcs be able to get in and search through my files?

 

If you read the description next to the sliders it will tell you that no sharing is allowed in your local trusted zone, but not over the internet zone
