ZoneAlarm 7.0.344

    Saw the announcement and download of ZoneAlarm 7.0.344; downloaded and installed without a problem.

    However, same as with the 7.0.302 download in January, there is a great fuss in the ZoneAlarm support forum. Moderators warning not to download this build, that it is a beta version with many known errors, and deleting any post that addresses the new download.

    Any ideas what this fuss is about? In January, 7.0.302 was announced by ZoneLabs just a few hours later, and it turned out to be exactly the same file version as the MajorGeeks download.

    Why are they so paranoid...?

    Dunno, guess they dont like some of these builds release before the offical site has them??? but I prefer it when they give reasons to why its buggy or will cause major problems, ok the company may not want to divulge bug issues with their product, but it helps the users trust them, especially if these forum gurus could give a release date? surely they have the ear of the company to state its seriously buggy, so surely can say hey dont install this but wait until XXth and get the final release.

    But I guess it will be out on ZAs site tomorrow or later today, with same build number ;)

    No fuss here. Like a handful of large companies, they have a tendency to release, then wait a few days on IT staff to update the website. Otherwise, they should not make the files available.

    The real question here should always be... Why did they put the files out on a public ftp, not why is the file floting around on all file based websites.
