ZoneAlarm and Computer Associates Conflicts?

I was setting up my computer to use the internet. And as I was downloading ZoneAlarm Firewall (recommended by my family). It got to 99% and then told me that my computer comes with the CA Anti-virus and it may cause conflicts with ZA. The CA automatically comes with AT&T Yahoo DSL. Are there any ways to successfully install the ZA program without removing the CA anti-virus. Or are there other compatible Firewalls that I could use? Thanks so much for your help!

 

Hey welcome to Major Geeks Dizzybrat922 Computer Associates makes a Firewall but I do believe that they charge for it now. So if there is a conflict with ZA and CA, you have two basic choices. Drop either the ZA Firewall or the CA antivirus and chose another to replace it. There are many available here at Major Geeks that are "Free" to download, right now I personally use Comodo Firewall and Antivira Antivirus, but have used others over the years. When you remove either ZA or CA, I would suggest you run a program called CCleaner(Slim) also available here at MG free, click on the issues tab and make certain you click Yes on making a back-up. This will get rid of any stray bits the "Uninstaller" misses in your "Registry". Hope that Helps

 

Just make sure with your ISP that you are allowed to substitute with another firewall. I've heard that some ISPs force you to use what they give you, CA is decent enough.
