ZONEALARM critical update problem !

I have Windows XP Professional.

I downloaded the ZONE ALARM SECURITY SUITE (full version) without installing the antivirus (I have SYMANTEC CORPORATE EDITION - CLIENT).

Because this version of ZONE ALARM was old, I tried to update it. So, I downloaded the update file from the official site "ZONE_ALARM_zaSuiteSetup_61_744_001_en.exe"

Before that, I updated the antispyware of ZONE ALARM. I have also its firewall together with the WINDOWS FIREWALL.

When I double click it, I get the message "C:/DOWNLOADS/ZONE_ALARM_zaSuiteSetup_61_744_001_en.exe IS NOT A VALID WIN 32 APPLICATION" !!

What can I do to update the program ?

Or is not so necessary ?

Hi Maggie,

1. Are you using any type of "Web Download Accelerators"? If you are, turn them off, as they will cause problems downloading with Zone Alarm.

2. Do a search for the file vsconfig.xml (it should be located in c:\windows\system32) and delete it. If you cannot delete it in normal mode, go to safe mode and delete it. Reboot the computer and resume the update zlsSetup_61_744_001_en.exe.

No, I am not using any "Web Download Accelerators". I have broadband DSL 384.

I deleted the file you say, but I get the same message and I cannot dowload the update.

 

Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus and firewall(s).

or should I completely disable ZONEALARM to get rid of its problems ?

I would try the download again while waiting, could just be the download. Empty your temp files and try again later.
