    Hi Everyone,

Win XP SP3 is my OS.

Running an older 8.x version of ZA Free, but it's doing the "i'm not playing well w/AGV9 Free" thing. AVG9 has confirmed my issue.

    Two questions, I guess ...

Shoud I uninstall the old 8.x ZA b4 installing new 9.2? Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find anything on the ZA site???

And before I do this, has anyone else upgraded to ZA 9.2? Any major headaches or pitfalls to avoid? Any XP users having trouble updating to it?

    Thanks,
    dood1emom

    Hi

Do you like ZA 8.x? if so why not try another antivirus application to see if plays better with ZA 8.x.. try Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast Free.

Personally I have not been a fan of ZA for years ever since the takeover by Checkpoint, personally I rate PCTools Free Firewall better, but thats my opinion, even though I dont use a 3rd party firewall, I just use the Firewall built into Windows 7 and my router + safe surfing.

Q1, U will have to uninstall it and restart ur comp to complete the uninstallation before any new installs.

Q2, I'm with you on this one, I've not found a free firewall I'm happy with yet. Ill be watchin this thread.

Nice, didn't know this was also available for XP.

    I'm also a user of MSE. :)

    Avast is nice also.

Hey theefool, I aint sure about win 7 MSE but in XP the firewall only blocks incoming. Be careful man.

Win7 firewall is both ways, if you use the advanced firewall. ;)

Thanks - willing to change, but free is good w/an unemployed spouse & kid is college!

Learned to not surf as admin - got hit with nasty virus last fall that I'm pretty sure came in thru a hijacked ad, so I'm happier with the AVG link-scanner nowadays. Extensive home network, what with kids laptops, desktops and iTouch thingies. Router has firewall, but like security of another too.

Looking into the MSE, but not sure I want to trust MS w/everything. Not that attached to ZA, but familiar w/it. New version is supposed to be less of resource hog. I just want something that will quit slowing down surfing and retrieving e-mail, which is what the AVG-ZA thing is making so miserable. XP setup is good w/an Athlon X2 processor, 3g ram and a GeForce 8600 GT, so I'm in no hurry to migrate yet ... and have a good DSL, so internet stuff shouldn't be quite so hinky, even sharing bandwidth w/kids!

Might get brave tonight and try new ZA.
