zoomplayer taking up double the memory

I just got the new zoomplayer (free) version and now that i run it with mirc for example it sometimes makes it difficult to run both properly. The problem I think is with the fact that now ZP is taking up twice the memory usage than with the previous version I had. I never add any extras or even add the subtitle extension. I just dl and installed the main program. I was wondering if anyone knew how ot fix this or if it's not fixable, if they would recommend another program that's cool like ZP. I mean, this thing is running twice the memory of WMP and even more than winamp!
