    Greetings,
Lately my computer has gotten very slow and when I check task manager I see 2 iexplorer.exe's running at the same time. One is usuallu around 80MB and the other 19MB. I have gone in this forum a couple of years ago to remove malware and found it to be very useful. If somebody can assist with me what I have to download as far as hijack this type programs I can post results to get to the root cause. I appreciate it in advance.

I run onWindows XP. Computer is fairly old but has been running good except for the time when my C drive crashed and I had to buy a new one. The specs of computer is:
XP professional Version Service Pack 3
    512MB of RAM
    Pentium 4 2.6Ghz CPU
300GB in C drive and 500GB in F drive - however both are almost full 19GB and 11GB left respectively.
I have Symantec Antivirus with unlimited license
When I lost my C drive Spydoctor went with it. I just got it again the other day and ran it. All threats were low as in tracking cookies and such.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I see you did not read the below link that Kestrel13! and also the READ & RUN ME instructed you to read:

Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!

If your only problem is that you are see 2 iexplore, exe processes in Task Manager when you are running it only once then you are not having a problem. You are using IE8 which is a tabbed browser and it will show multiple processes running. This is normal.

If you just recently install PC Tools Spyware Doctor because you though you had malware and if this copy of Spyware Doctor was just a trial, you should uninstall it as it is only going to waster system resources and will not fix anything. In addition, you have nothing to fix. Your logs are clean.

Sorry about the bump I did notknow the rule.. As far as Spyware Doctor yes I installed it through torrentz. I just ran another scan and found 66 infections. While most are Low threat it also found medium threat. When I went to the site to learn more about it this is the trojan that showed up:

    Trojan-Downloader.Murlo

Please let me know what I need to do if ieplorer.exe running twixe is not an issue clearly is still slow and maybe due to these infections that show up every time I run Spyware doc. Thanks.

ExtremeIy bad idea and also illegal. Uninstall it. It is of no use to you and my expectation is that all that it is showing you are false detections or non-problems related to cookies. Your logs were clean.

As stated, this is normal behavior.

Which is why you should uninstall it because they are not valid. If you had a log from Spyware Doctor showing exactly what it found we could be more specific but from my experience, Spyware Doctor does not produce useful text logs. They instead chose to be non-standard and make very unhelpful XML logs.
