    Hi MajorGeeks,

I am having an issue with my laptop an HP Pavillion dv7.

I am running AVG Anti-Virus and I believe this infection came from a Flash 11.5 download (well it all started just after that was downloaded).

Basically about every 3 minutes I get an AVG Anti-Virus alert to say that it has blocked several threats and aloows me to remove them.

I perform that action but 3 minutes later I get the same thing.

    The threats found are:
    Trojan Horse Agent_r.BLB
    and/
    Luhe.Sirefef.A

Any help or tips highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Welcome to the Malware Removal Forum.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hi Kestrel13!

I have attached all logs and files created from the various tools.

I also removed AVG antivirus before doing this as instructed and have not had any indication of the Trojan showing up again. I will re-install the antivirus and obviously report back if there are any further issues.

    Thanks and Kind Regards

    Uninstall the below.

    • XoftSpySE
      [*]ParetoLogic PC Health Advisor

Do you know what this file is for?

    C:\WINDOWS\xUninstall.bat

Re run RogueKiller and attach the new log.

Now, some services are broken, let's attack it bit by bit. (Note to self BFE still to do)

This can take a long time.

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

After reboot, check to see if your firewall is working.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Hi Kestrel,

    I have uninstalled:
    XoftSpySE
    ParetoLogic PC Health Advisor

I have no clue what this is for:

    C:\WINDOWS\xUninstall.bat

The first time I ran RogueKiller the AVG antivirus I had reinstalled after the last procedure blocked it and said there was a Trojan. I allowed RogueKiller to run but it did not do anything and when I checked the folder I had created with the various Cleaning and Fixing files I noticed all the .exe files had been changed to .txt files.

I uninstalled AVG and downloaded RogueKiller and ran that.

I have attached the Report from that.

I ran Windows Repair from Tweaking and after Reboot the Windows Firewall said it was On and protecting my system.

I then ran MGTools and have uploaded the Zip for that.

I have not re-installed AVG or any additional antivirus, I am not sure if I should at this point?

I have two files on my Desktop called desktop.ini , I am not sure what these are either. The thumbnails are not highlighted, as if they are not there.

I have had no errors or problems with further Viruses but have only just rebooted.

Let me know if you have any questions or if any of this does not make sense.

    Thanks,

    DST8

Not until we are done because as you have said, it is interfering! :)

    C:\WINDOWS\xUninstall.bat <--- Delete it then.

    [IMG] Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the File/Folder tab and locate this 1 detection:

    [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] U : C:\$recycle.bin\S-1-5-18\$82f4fdd3f0f2bccfae04d1af54fdba30\U --> FOUND

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

Re run RogueKiller again, just a scan, and attach that log too so I can see if it's still detecting anything or not.

    Hi Kestrel,

I uninstalled the unknown .bat file.

I ran Roguekiller and for some reason there were two further reports on my desktop so I have attached both. (RKreport[2].txt and RKreport[3].txt)

I went to the Files tab and highlighted the file mentioned below
    C:\$recycle.bin\S-1-5-18\$82f4fdd3f0f2bccfae04d1af54fdba30\U

I deleted that then rebooted and re-ran RogueKiller again. I have attached that file (RKreport[4].txt).

    Slainte!

    How are things running now?

    Running smoothly so far.

I have still not re-installed avg and have decided not to bother. I had CA before but they were hiking their prices up constantly and then I had a virus problem so decided not to renew.
    Anything you would recommend?

I cannot thank you enough so far!

I se Avast! Free Edition. :)

    Glad all is well.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
