Attacked by Micro Antivirus 2009! Need some help!

    I was away from my compy for about an hour, came back and I saw a pop-up with two fairly new porn icons on my desktop. It told me I need Micro Antivirus 2009 (which also created an Icon of its own...). After this, I attempted to close the window; instead of it closing, it froze my computer completly. Frustrated, I turned it off and turned it back on trying to run system recovery. It wouldn't even turn on, the computer just booted up ignoring that command several times. Safe mode would just reset as well.

    To make it worse, winlogin.exe was running on High Priority using up 99% of the system's process.

    The best i've done is open up Task Manager to open Firefox (after about 5-6 hours of patient and time comsuming clicking) to get malwarebytes. I can't do any of the solutions or removal hints due to my frozen compy and cannot even get a HiJacked report due to the current codition of my XP Home Edition. Can I get some help?

    Then you should have read the sticky threads in the forum that are posted there to help you get started immediately. And this bump cost you more than another day of waiting time. See this sticky thread which is at the top of every page in the Malware Forum: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!


    Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. (Yes I did read what you posted and understand you are having problems running anything but if you cannot get anything to run and cannot get us any logs then there is are only two choices. One is a Windows Repair which may not work and the second is a complete reinstall from scratch.)


    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

    It's okay now. I solved the problem without help.

    BTW, my compy would NOT enter safe mode, the trojan forced a restart upon that condition several times.
