Computer running slower and Safe mode not working

i've went through all the steps in the sticky and my computer still seems to run slow and i still can't go on safety mode. here are the computer specs:


OS: Windows XP SP2
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
Motherboard: Intel Rock lake D865PERL
Memory: 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
Video Card; GeForce4 MX4000 128 M

Please see the below thread on how to install and run Spy Sweeper and Ewido Anti-Malware. After you ran both programs, attach the logs to your next post along with a fresh HJT log from normal mode.

Please look in Add or Remove Programs for the following and Uninstall them if found:

Ewido

Spy Sweeper

Now scan with HijackThis and check the boxes for the following entries:
( Make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX )

O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx (file missing)

Again, make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX.

Next, run CCleaner to clean up cookies and temp files.

Run full scans with Ad-Aware SE & Spybot S&D and have both programs fix what they find.
Note: Remember to get all updates before doing the scans.

Then, as an added precaution, Go to Start > Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:

• Temporary Files
• Temporary Internet Files
• Recycle Bin

And Click OK.

After you complete the above, REBOOT to normal windows and proceed with the rest of this fix...

Finally, I would like you to flush your System Restore points. Please follow the instructions in the below:

• Disable and Re-enable System Restore
  
  
• Turn OFF System Restore to flush any bad Restore Points.
  
  
• Then, follow the instructions at the bottom of the linked page to Re-enable the Restore Utility which will create a fresh restore point.

Scan with HijackThis and attach the new log.
Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

 

alright after doing all this i still can't start up in safe mode and my internet is still running pretty slow (i know its not my dsl because i am paying for the fastest one and i talked to someone from verizon today and they said my line is running perfectly fine and about a week ago my speed was a whole lot faster than now). also when i try to update Spybot S&D a problem occurs (look @ attachments)

When downloading updates in Spybot, choose a different server from the drop down list and try again.

Then run another full scan and let me know the results. Afterwards reboot and attach a fresh HJT log in case.

 

an error occurs after the scan for spybot...look at the attachments please

 

What version of Spybot S&D do you have? Be sure you have Spybot S&D 1.4 installed.
