    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

If you did not intentionally install it go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall:

    • Ask.com Toolbar

Also in Add/remove Programs you have:

    • Norton Internet Security
    • Webroot AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper

Running two antivirus at the same time will cause all sorts of issues. Pick one and uninstall the other.

Your Java needs to be updated. Updating Sun Java

Please run this online scan and attach the log. Using ESET's Online Scanner

    Removed Ask tool bar
    Removed webroot avi
Dont see Nortons in add/remove list
Deleted all Java & updated with current
Run ESET online scan- get DCOM service terminate before finish.
*did see threat found before shut down "Win32/PrcView application"

I thought I would uninstall some other apps like MS office & other that dont use that much hoping thinking it would speed the scan before I get the DCOM msg & the system shuts down. But makes no difference. :cry

I'm not sure this is a malware issue.

Did you install anything around the time this started happening?
Were you adjusting settings, maybe with your server?

Anything you can think of that might have led to the errors?

Nothing that I can think off- I tried system restore no help. Cant finish any full virus scan before I get DCOm msg & it shuts down.

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

If you can, download this and boot into Safe Mode to run it. Using Dr.Web CureIt

That was interesting- downloaded Cureit- booted into safe mode & got BSOD.
Then reboot and windows started up repair mode did it's thing.
It restored windows to a previous point & now can download & installed Vista SP2. AT this point havent got the DCOM msg.
So my guess is, as you said, it was'nt a malware issue after all. Going to uninstall Webroot av & go with ESET Nod av as that has worked good on my other vista machine. Now, Should I install Win7 upgrade first?

Thanks for your help Evil :)

I'm not sure about that. I would do the scan with Dr. Web just to be sure there is no malware. You don't want to upgrade an infected computer.

    Then I would get SP2.

You will want to backup all of your data before doing an upgrade. My Windows 7 upgrade trashed my whole system and a full reinstall was necessary.

Did you reformat? If not, just to be safe let's run this. Better safe than sorry.

Please run TDSSKiller per the below steps:

    * Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop
    * Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any sub-folder of the Desktop.
    * Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following Red text into Run box and hit Enter on your keyboard.

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v

    * Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    * When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called 'TDSSKiller.txt' please attach this log to your next reply.
