    Hello,

I just recently started seeing this tonight. I went on google and was searching up something and when I went to click the link to it, (an IP address shows on the tab title then redirects me to some money thing or another ad site instead of the search i was looking for)

If I double click the googl link it will bring me to it, but if I do it one click it does it.

Some google links seem to work fine but others bring me to ad sites?

    I am really confused.

I thought it was a rookit so I ran my avg rookit scanner and nothing showed up. I ran TDSS Killer and nothing showed up.

    Idk whats wrong?

    Hi there. :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hello Kestrel,

Thank you for helping me out!

I followed all of your instructions and have attached all of the files.

When I start my laptop up, a popup comes up saying a module failed to load. Uploaded that pic too.

(Will post twice to upload everything, only could attach 5 things to this post)

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!
    :)

Ill attach the files for ya

PS: After I ran the RK , it left 2 text files on my desktop not 1 so i attached both.

When you rescan with Hitman does it still show Potential Unwanted Programs? There's alot of Babylon and funmoods stuff NOT deleted I think. Let me know.

Yep I just rescanned and its all that babylon stuff, which have "ignore" all on them. At the top it says no virus's found.

We don't want to ignore it, as long as it's all deleted that's fine. :) Let me know.

Ok I deleted all of the babylon files. :)

So is it all set now?

I went on google to test out links and it seems to be working fine now.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\0c057au87kc1o75o7
    C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\2552098164
    C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\5g0wx2inmu2enk0m84q64hf
    C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\hf7o7oior1bgb4rqj6cype23nm1c7x37y
    C:\ProgramData\pzwxqodzexhmqvy

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Hi!

I went to download the OTM blue link you posted and my avg popped up saying it was a trojan. At first I wasn't sure what to do so I exited it out then realized it was probably a false positive or whatever they call it. So I disabled my avg and downloaded it. I copy and pasted what you told me to and moved it. then it asked me to reboot my laptop so i did.

Then when it started back up the trojan pop up came up again because avg must have restarted after the reboot so I am not able to get what you needed from it as it deleted it again.

I did however get the zip file you asked for from MGtools attached.

EDIT: Oops after the reboot this notepad file popped up for the OTM thing, not sure if you mean this or not.

    Looks good now. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hi kestrel!

    Just have a quick question/problem

I turned on my computer today and I DO have internet connection (i am using my laptop and i get connection wirelessly from our deskstop computer in the living room) but when i go onto internet explorer it loads msn, it shows up then it continues to load and i cant click on anything. I can click on new tab and go to another website and it will show up but it will then freeze and both tabs loading symbols will slow down and freeze.

Im not sure what is going on it wasn't doing this yesterday after i did the finishing steps you said.

like i said our internet connection is fine, other desktop computer works perfectly and (now the laptop is letting me go on sites again)

Is there a software that will check if something is wrong with my internet explorer?

  17. Johnnyboy224

    Johnnyboy224 Private E-2

    PS:

Just tried opening "internet explorer 64 bit" by clicking run as admin and it works perfectly.

the problem seems to be effecting internet explorere 32 bit (which i open from my desktop bar at the bottom)

when i open 32 bit version it goes to msn.com and freezes.

when i open 64 bit version it goes to msn.com and works perfect and loads any site fast.

    I dont understand...
