Mouse probem only online??

I am having to do multiple clicks to get the mouse to work, especially when I want to drag the scroll bar. It's drivin me crazy! Just start happening a couple weeks ago. Seems to work fine on the computer, like when I use Wordpad & OpenOffice it doesn't get stuck.
Anybody got a clue as to what's happening? I put our old mouse on to see if that would help because it's a little heavier, but it didn't hlp in the least.

This is a brand new 2TB HP tower with excellent virus protection. I'm sorry I forgot to say that. Windows 8.1 . Is it perhaps a Firefox issue??

 

Have you tried different browsers? and try 32 - 64 bit variants.
Palemoon has that problem for me, but Firefox does not.

 

I reset Firefox and it seems to be working now...
