Hello. I managed to get a virus on my computer, and looking up on Google to see what I could do about it, and to see how dangerous it was, and I saw a few threads here that seemed to fix it.

So, I've got the trojan r.xj, which seemed to be a fairly low damaging virus, and it's gotten into the explorer.exe, and it seems it also put on that fake antivirus "Win 7 Home Security 2011".

I don't really want to connect to the internet, so I want to know if I can safely transfer the logs via flash drive to another computer to upload them, and also what else I need to do to fix all these.

    Thanks.

    Edit:
I found wyp.exe, found that it was what was causing the win 7 fake antivirus. Went into windows and found the actual .exe and permanently deleted it.

Now none of my .exe files are working, they all come up with "Choose the program you want to use to open this file"

Did I accidentally just delete a crucial system file that was corrupted?

    I would suggest these steps:
    Try the below.

Please download RogueKiller.exe and save it to your desktop.
    • Now quit all running programs.
    • Double click RogueKiller.exe to run it.
    • When prompted, type 1 and hit Enter.
    • A RKreport.txt should appear on your desktop.
    • Note: If the program is blocked, do not hesitate to try several times. If it really does not work (it could happen), rename it to winlogon.exe .
    • Please post the contents of the RKreport.txt in your next Reply.

I would like to know which program logs you'd like me to include on this.

Sorry that I haven't replied in a while, been busy with other things.

Also, I have to ask. This computer doesn't show any signs of infection if it's logged in as one of the other users (I took out the network card just to test for this). Would it be safe to connect to the internet as a different user, or should I not chance it yet?

    Hi there.

    When you said this:
I assmued you had run the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide but then hit up against problems with running exe files so included the link to roguekiller. Just attach what logs you have from running the Read and Run me First.
