    Hey guys,
HP Vista SP1 Laptop has been running great. Hardly any problems. Until tonight....

I ran a scan by Malwarebytes, just doing some housekeeping so I ran a quick scan, and it found a problem. But the computer need to reboot in order to fix the problem. Booted up fine, problem fixed....new problem: My laptop is not recognizing my wireless internet. When I hit diagnose problem, the problem seems to be "Windows Wireless Service not started". But when i try to resolve it, the problem can not be resolved!

    1. I have made sure my wireless router is good to go, my brothers' wireless laptop is working fine.
    2. Under services, I made sure that WLAN was automatically started.

So I figured my best bet was to do a system restore right! Wrong, my system restore will not run:
"System Restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system. The Volume Shadow Copy Service used by System Restore is not working, For more information view the event log (0x81000202)"

Volume Shadow Copy Service in Services is set to automatic, but it won't start:
"Windows could not start the Volume Shadow Copy Service on the Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

And I can't get to my control panel for some reason. Everything else on my laptop is running smooth.

Attached is the log when I ran the scan by Malwarebytes...which is where the problem all started....Let me know if any more information is needed.
I appreciate all you guys do, thanks in advance ;) -JakeD

Based on the log you attached from MBAM it did not touch anything related to your wireless setup. See the log yourself. It just changed a registry setting for your active desktop. Are you sure that is all you ran? Did you run it more than once and perhaps not attach the first log?

You can try the below to see if it will help:

Thx chaslang, but that is all I ran and it was the first log. After the scan was complete the computer needed to be restarted to fix the problem. This was the first time i had ran Malwarebytes. I checked out the link you gave me, but there was not luck. And for some reason, I can't get to my control panel to reinstall my driver.

I'm also curious why my system restore stopped working. Before my computer restarted, control panel was accessible and my wireless was working fine. I'm not sure what caused system restore to stop though.

Thx again for the help JakeD

All I can suggest at this point is for you to run the full cleaning procedure from the READ & RUN ME and attach all of the logs so we can see if there is any malware present. Based on you Malwarebytes log nothing was really removed.

It actually sounds like you could have a few services not running. You may be in for a Window Repair if system restore is not working too.

Hey thx for the response. But I got my system restore to work. I booted my system up in Safe Mode and got through system restore. I restored it before I installed Malwarebytes. Everything is well, wireless is working and my system restore works again. I have no idea what caused this.

I am running AVG Free, Comodo BOClean, and Comodo firewall, so I am pretty well protected and I don't think it was malware that caused my problems. I'm might be wrong but is there anything I can do to make sure this doesn't happen again?? Any advide would be appreciated. Thanks for all of ur help!

Well I'm not sure since I don't really no what was the cause of your problem. Based on the MBAM log, it did not really remove anything of significance. You could try installing the new version of MBAM and running it again just to see what happens. You could just use System Restore again if it became necessary. Make sure that MBAM is the only thing you install and run just to be sure whether it is related to your problem or not. We have hundreds of people using it at just this forum each week. There are many thousands per total and if this were a problem with MBAM, it would be well known by now.
