Can't run online scans

I posted before regarding my desktop. Now I am working through your steps on a laptop, where I had successfully run the online scans before, but only the Bitdefender works now. When I try to install the ActiveX items I just get a message that says that the info. will need to be resent in order to refresh. Retrying or cancelling does not resolve the issue, and my Security settings are set at what they suggest.

Any idea why these scans won't run or what I should do next?

I am working on a Dell Inspiron 9300
    processor 2.00 GHz
    798 MHz 512 MB RAM

    Thanks!

    For which scanner?

RAVAntivirus says their website is closed for the scan.

Had issues with TrendMicro, Trojan Scan, and Panda ActiveScan.

    Thanks.

Yep! They are closed! Looks like MS is buying up more companies. So......skip RAV and I'll be removing it from the READ ME.

Okay, but what should I do about the other 3 online scans I had trouble with. RAV was the only one that said it did not exist. Are you saying the same is true with the others? It appears I'm just having issues with the ActiveX installing for some reason.

    Thanks.

Run at least one of the other scanners! They should work! If you cannot run them. Run the below instead and post it's log.

    Running Ewido Security Suite

Since I ran Bitdefender, I went ahead and finished the rest of the procedures, running the other scans in safe mode. Spybot was the only one that came up with the usual Windows Security Virus Scan Disable Notify and Firewall Disable Notify and also 'WebBackLite', which I checked and deleted also.

Though I have had various symptoms on this PC in the past, the only thing I'm aware that it is still doing is showing a 'Download file' window asking if I want to open a file that would normally just open itself up in the proper Express Scribe program without this window popping up. It had been working fine for a few weeks, but this just started again on Saturday and is still occuring now. Does this sound like a spyware issue?

I also ran a Hijack This log in case you want to see that. I did not run the other program you mentioned snce I was able to run Bitdefender. Do you still want me to run this or do anything else at this point?

    Thanks so much!

I should also mention that I am unable to upload my work files with Firefox; have to use IE for this. It also seems other websites don't work properly unless I use IE. (don't remember which ones offhand).

    Thanks.

I just realized that I am still having an issue with a particular webiste redirecting me to different log in pages within the site when this should not be occuring. This has been goiing on for at least a month. (ie. instead of taking me to the link I click on, it takes me to either my log on page again or a staff log on page that I should never even see.)

    Thanks again.

    No!

Since you think you are having other problems (I don't think your redirection is malware related eithed) run Ewido and attach the log. Then follow these directions for installing and running HJT and attach the log: Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Note: There are many, many websites that require IE to work properly.

Okay, attached are the ewido and Hijack This logs. Ewido did not find anything.

I still have issues with the redirection I mentioned previously and one other thing I remember is that a few of my email addresses that I use regularly all of a sudden stopped working. Outlook returned the messages saying they looked like SPAM. If neither of these issues have anything to do with spyware, do you have any idea where I might look next to get these issues resolved?

    Thanks so much!

HJT logs must be posted from normal boot mode. Please attach a new one after booting in normal mode.

Your log show no malware signs but the below minor cleanup items can be fixed with HJT:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://hsremove.com/done.htm
    O9 - Extra button: MUSICMATCH MX Web Player - {d81ca86b-ef63-42af-bee3-4502d9a03c2d} - http://wwws.musicmatch.com/mmz/openWebRadio.html (file missing)

Are you having any malware problems on this PC?

Okay. The only problems that I can recall are the ones mentioned before about email addresses and redirection of a certain website to different log on pages.

Any idea how to stop the redirection or why email (Outlook Express) thinks addresses I have always used are now considered as SPAM so won't be delivered?

    Thanks so much!

None of what you mentioned here appears to be malware related. You may have some software configuration issues with Outlook. Try the software forum. You may need to clear some addresses from somekind of spammer list.

As far as what you are calling redirection, changing to a different web page on the same site is not malware. Sound like either there pages have changed or you need to clear history, cache, and cookies. Maybe even try a different browser and see what happens.
