This is the error message I get in Chrome:
    ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED

This is the error message I get in Internet Explorer:
Internet Explorer cannot display the web page

When I click on "Diagnose connection problems"

This is the response I get:
Windows did not find any problems with this computer's network

I can ping domains and trace routes do complete:
    tracert to 4.1.1.1 works
    tracert to www.microsoft.com works

I have ran MALWAREBYTES until I have no viruses or spyware.

Both Chrome and Internet Explorer work normally in safe mode

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Sounds like you may have gotten a proxy server setup in your browsers which you don't need and this is why you cannot connect. You can check in your browsers for this but even if you remove it, it may just come back after the next reboot unless your PC is cleaned of the junkware that is hooking this into your browers. Hence the below is recommended.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

OK, I double checked that the proxy server was unchecked.

I run all the requested apps (hitmanpro, mgtools, rougekiller, tdsskiller)and have uploaded the logs.

As mentioned originally I used Malwarebytes to run the virus scan. I use AVG has my primary malware/virus protection.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Thank you for your time and efforts to help me out!!

    You're welcome.

It's is not true that you are using AVG. Per your logs you are using Norton Internet Security and AVG has never been on this PC!

Before we get started, you need to run MSconfig and put your PC into normal startup mode. MSconfig should not be used as a long term startup manager. It is a tool for debugging problems only.

Uninstall the below programs. If you do not find them or they will not uninstall, just keep going.
    Java 7 Update 55
    Viewpoint Media Player

Now install the current version of Sun Java from:
Make sure that when you install the new version of Java that you uncheck the Install the Ask Toolbar junkware checkbox. Also if it asks if you want to install McAfee Security Scan Plus that you uncheck this too. You do not need to add these unncessary items and to your PC. Also just in case Oracle changes the Java installation in the future to possibly install other junk, uncheck all but just installing Java.
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {95B7759C-8C7F-4BF1-B163-73684A933233} - (no file)

    O9 - Extra button: HP Smart Select - {58ECB495-38F0-49cb-A538-10282ABF65E7} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log

First let me apologize if this is posted several times. It does not look like it is posting my updates.

You are correct AVG had not been installed on my laptop. I had it installed on my wife's laptop and thought I had it installed on mine, my apologizes. I installed AVG but could not update it in safe mode or a normal start up.

I've followed the instructions you sent, here are the results:

MSConfig has been set to startup normally

    uninstalled Java 7 update 55
    uninstalled Viewpoint Media Player

installed 32 bit Sun Java bit Runtime Environment
    - when i verify the installation it is Java Version 8 update 31

    Ran Hijackthis and checked:
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {95B7759C-8C7F-4BF1-B163-73684A933233} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: Toolbar BHO - {d3b02e0d-c0a3-4fcf-9a3e-82e6002a19c3} - C:\PROGRA~1\TVvie_4g\bar\1.bin\4gbar.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: TVvie - {5fc8ff1f-c136-4abb-9a78-9c7cd19d21e2} - C:\Program Files\TVvie_4g\bar\1.bin\4gbar.dll
    O9 - Extra button: HP Smart Select - {58ECB495-38F0-49cb-A538-10282ABF65E7} - (no file)

After clicking Fix and exiting HJT rebooted

    OTM Downloaded
    pasted code into OTM
    clicked "Move it"
after reboot log file didn't open but I found it in the location you noted
    C:\_OTM\MovedFiles
created zip file of all the files and attached

    Downloaded JTR.exe
    ran and log file created

attached requested logs and zip file.

At this point I still can't access the internet with Chrome or IE9. Windows updates are still working. AVG is still not updating.

But WHY? I did not ask you to install it and as I stated previously you already have Norton Internet Security installed!!!! You now have two antivirus programs installed.

So now you need to uninstall both of them and then reboot your PC. After reboot, you need to do the below so we can check status.

Make sure that you do the below from Normal Boot mode not safe boot mode like with your last logs.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    C:\MGlogs.zip

And remember per the READ & RUN ME FIRST's early instructions, you are only supposed to be doing what we request and nothing else which is the reason I said WHY? to you installing AVG.

You're welcome. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you again!!! Everything is running smoothly again.

I've created the restore point and installed Malwarebytes.

Thank you for all your time and efforts helping me though this!!
