Hi. Thank in advance for all your help.

A few months ago, I ran an antivirus scan and it told me I had a trojan and many tracking cookies.
I noticed they were in my start up as dll and removed them.
But I doubt I removed anything, because i keep getting the same issues.

my web page redirects, I followed the instructions posted in the thread. my proxy was off.

I either got infected by trying to install a bot on facebook to a google toolbar or from my husband streaming football games.
The things i've noticed is a very slow computer and internet connection and the redirecting of the web pages, and of course kaspersky telling me i had a trojan. Also, I tried to download the latest version of itunes and it won't let me and the icons on my desktop have changed on their own.

I hope i've given enough info. Thank you!

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Like what?

    Uninstall the below outdated java.
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 22
    • Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 22

    Delete this file.
    C:\windows\Ofawamewigame.bin

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

You have an MBR infection. Please be warned that you would be wise to back up any important data before proceeding with the next step of attempting to fix your MBR.

Do you have your XP boot CD? If not:

This is a download of an .iso file of just the Recovery Console for XP.
Burn to CD with Nero or other 'disc image' capable tool and boot.

    XP Recovery Console.

You can use ImageBurn to create the disc.

Boot to the bios after creating the disc, and change the boot order to CD/DVD as first boot device. Then insert the CD and reboot. Once you are in the Recovery Console, type:
    fixmbr

then exit. Reboot to normal mode and re-run MBRCheck and attach the new log.

Install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Thank you for trying to help.

OMG! I broke my cd drive. I'm a little frustrated with this virus. Do you mind if I resume the help once I fix my cd drive? or is there another way of fixing my computer without a cd? I don't have the money to purchase a new computer, so I'd like to do everything I can to try to save this one.

Thank you very much for all your help. This entire group is very much appreciated!

Yes I'll wait! No problem, see if you can pick up an external CD drive perhaps. :) An internal one would be much cheaper though thinking about it.

Ok, I got an external cd drive. I'm in the process of getting an external hard drive, just in case. Thank you for waiting for me.
-what do i do with the broken one? it is still in the pc.
-The icons moved from where i'd put them. I like my recycle bin on the bottom right corner. its now up top with the rest of the icons. and every time i restarted, they shuffled position.

-uninstalled java and downloaded newest version
    -deleted the ofawana file
-got a success message from the fixMe.reg

my computer seems to be working faster, but i don't know if i booted from the cd correctly.

Once again, Thank you very much for your help and for waiting for me to get the cd drive.

Take a look at this little guide To arrange your desktop icons
Not my field I'm afraid, something to ask about in another area of the forum
    You sure did. :)

    Delete this folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Andrea\Local Settings\Application Data\Conduit

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Thank you for your patience

Now go to this MGTools and download the new version of MGtools.exe. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run the new C:\MGTools.exe and attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip

They did not appear today. They were there since you copied them there around Nov 8th. It looks like you copied files from a Windows CD to your Desktop on that date. You can see the i386 folder and these files appeared in the logs you attach 11/8/2011
They are from the Windows CD you copied.
