Audio problems with ipad 2

Didn't say what he tried so here' s a few ideas:

1: Double click the home button and all your apps will appear at the bottom and you can scroll them left or right. Swipe left to right and volume settings will appear. Make sure volume is on and not locked in that spot.

2: Try going to settings, general and reset settings. After that, reboot. By the way, if you have not rebooted in some time I like to do so every week or two or when I think there might be an issue like this.

3: Assuming not a hardware problem and the earbuds work then it can often be caused by an app. Is it everything or certain apps? If certain apps don't work, remove and reinsatall those apps.

4: If all these failed and you call Apple they will make you do a restore to factory. Not a fan but up to you if everything is backed up and all else has failed.
