Thanks a million for your time and sugestion but that will not do it... here is the situation.... I got a new hard drive for my laptop when i went to format it for the first time i only did about half (i really don't know why i just did) Now i have access to 1\2 of my hard drives compacity I was hoping to get the ability to use the end half with out having to re format the entire thing...

When I clicked on my computer there is only one drive shown and it only show 1\2 the hard dive space...

You would want to follow Microsoft's instructions below. Basically Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Storage->Disk Management. Maximize the screen. In the diagram/graph you should see some space marked Unallocated. Right click on the unallocated space and choose new partition. Follow directions in wizard. [Primary partitions can be booted, use this if you might want to install a second OS otherwise extended partition is okay.]

I have partitions on my HDD as well. I dnt know how I created it but I want to crash it to one single main partition. I am thinking of changing computer or simply buy new hardware and redo the old one itself. For that I want to crash those partitions:confused:

i didn't get what you have done exactly. As i understood, you formated just a half of your HD, and the rest of the drive is still unallocated. If so, go to the disk management utility and there you will be able to see this unallocated space. right click on it and choose an option create a partition. Also you can use 3d party partitioning software(i think it's one of the easiest way to partition the HD) like disk director.

Thank you so much everyone this seems to be working... the other 1\2 of my HD is formatting as we speak...
