Laptop lines on screen

I have lines on my screen during boot. When I get into windows it acts strangely and it stuck at 640x480 and when I try to increase it it just goes back to 640x480.

I have come up with bad video card/lcd screen.

Any tips would be much appreciated

 

It's more like garbled stuff on it.

I'll post a picture later but I'm thinking the video card is gone.

 

Do you have the latest drivers? Outdated drivers can cause display issues.

 

Any ? or ! in Device Manager.

 

Most laptops do not have a video card, it is an onboard chip. Unfortunately, when that goes, you are out of luck.

 

I did some research on this laptop and it has a Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS dedicated video card which is replaceable but It's going to be hard to get to.

I've come up with it's bad bad video card as it shows lines during post but when I get into windows it has distorted stuff.

During the BIOS logo boot screen it has black line running though the center of the screen. It's not a LCD Problem.

 

Do you have a make and model for the Laptop.....I have some disassembly guides to link and the accessibility might not be any harder than a desktop .

It seems like if it's just text there is no issue.

It looks like when there is colors and graphics is when it starts to have an issue.
