Hello Kestral... I so love your desktop pic of the two angels... I was wondering [If I may ask] if you could send a link to the pic or let me know where you had gotten it. I would love it on my desktop.

It would be so appreciated :)

    Thank you...

Sure, just head over to interfacelift.com and look through the most popular wallpapers, or nature category.

Hey Muskie when i lived in UK i was a fanatic over marine fish, i spent a fortune on them, my tank was 8 feet long X 3 foot wide and 3 foot deep, i had it built into the wall between two rooms so you could see it from both sides.

That was with my first wife and now my 2nd wife won't let me knock holes in the walls (no sense of humor )

I had 4 of these (lion fish) and all the tentacles are poisonous and can make you really sick so cleaning the tank was a risky job.

Bill, that sounds like some tank you had, could have charged admission. I like your desktop, didn't know they moved like a screensaver.
How are you doing by the way? Can never find an appropriate thread to ask you, so used this one.:confused

    I'm great thanks Darlene.

we are in the middle of clearing out the house ready to move (in about 3 weeks) and we are going from a 5 bedroom house to a 3 (really 2 and a 1/2)bedroom apartment so you can imagine it's like trying to get a gallon into a pint.

    Thank you LauraR.... :)

I right-click on my desktop and un-check [show desktop icons] so that they remain hidden... makes the desktop prettier... ;)

    Kestrel....

:-D ... yup...easiest way is to un-check it... :) ... some people download programs that do just that and take up space in their puter.... I hate wasting space.... :-D

there are some issues with just hiding the desktop icons. as in it hides them all, all the time.

you save something to your desktop and it wont show up there, since you hid everything. it's there, you just can't see it and if you can't see it, it's not really there is it? I do a lot of temp shuffling of files through my desktop and I do need to be able to see them. using powertoys to remove the recycle bin is different as it still allows you to place icons on the desktop and be able to see them.

Guess some people can lose sight of what a desktop is for, which is to have a handy, easy to see place for important and frequently used programs. Easy to get carried away with the pretty D/Top background, (which is really only there to stop us getting bored so easily). Makes me wonder why some people don't just buy an electronic picture frame, if that's what they really like. ~ Nothing wrong with having a nice-looking D/Top, mind you.

Then again - there is the other extreme, where the desktop is so overcrowded with icon shortcuts, that the desktop looks like an aerial photo of New York City at rush hour. :-D

I like to think I have a nice compromise: I have desktop icons hidden, but I have an auto-hiding toolbar to the left side of my window for my desktop folder.

    An example:

I get the pretty d/t, and still have quick access to my select few icons.

PS: That's a nice one, dy!

Yep, they virtually grow wild here. I have giant one around the side of the house, and is now taller than the fence. I never water or look after it and it still grows like mad. Just prune it every now and then, and get more Frangipanis out of it. I think it is a native of Queensland, so it's more or less a subtropical species, which is why they struggle in the U.K., unless they are grown in a glass house, or some such. Hibiscus - the same deal. More or less grow themselves.

The first thing you should do is look over here, to look if it is safe to run compiz-git.

    Then....

Open Synaptics or Adept and search for "compiz"

    - Remove every reference and after you are done close Synaptics

Open Terminal and here is the full conversion.

I think this required a new login to enable it all including the Fusion Icon
