Legend of Grimrock, awesome indie game.

cant wait for Sword of Ahkronox(sp?), looks like LoG on acid with the whole WORLD being procedurally generated(generated as you play) it could be the best game, EVER.

I heard a lot of good things about that game! How similar to Diablo is it?

Nothing like it actually, its more like an updated version of some of the old SSI dungeon crawler games. Its first person, but still sort of turn based. You move forward, back, left right with the keyboard, I turn myself with the mouse which can be a bit awkward at times because of the turn based style, but i got used to it pretty quickly.

Lots of hidden doors to find and puzzles to solve.

    Must. Have. Grimrock.

    GOG has it, right?

I've moved past Skyrim a couple months back, only to get SUCKED back into flippin' game last week due to the creation kit. For those of you wo never messed around with Bethesda's mod stuff(creation kits) this one is utterly amazing. You can get the creeation kit from steam, small DL, only about 20MB or so, and you have an entire world at your disposal!!! I'll admit it took a few hours of reading and stuff getting use the the caemra controls and all the keyboard commands, but it's worth it the time. I've recently played Alan Wake, pretty good. I'm currently playing FIFA 12, PES 12. Mimsy you back to games yet? My better-half has been wanting to get a boxer puppy. I would lvoe to have another one, but we already got a tater-tot,(8 yr. old beagle)and a Cosmo(6yr old mut). But I know my son would love one.

Not sure about GoG.com having it mimsy but i thought they were, i get everything from steam. Im not hung up on drm as much as most and the interface for steam has just always been good for me.

    Playing GW2 beta.

If it continues to be this hectic after launch, it will go the way of rift for me(unplayed) but then again its not p2p so i could still jump in whenever i wanted so maybe not.

Graphics are unbelieveable, story is pretty damn amazing so far. Everyone complains about lag but i get almost none to none with my gaming rig.

    :-D

I game when the puppy has been put to bed. Right now, I've returned to Neverwinter Nights 2, and I'm working my way through it.

I verified that GOG does have Grimrock, so I've wishlisted it there.

I just decided on the spur of the moment to download "Journey" I know it's only a pretty short lived game, but I want to give it a go when I can tear myself off of NFS The Run for five minutes.

@Mimsy-- Is Legends of Grimrock single-player or one of those mmo type rpgs?
I did some brief searching but couldn't find that.

Grimrock is a single player, first person, turn based, party type adventure game in the vein of the old SSI DnD games like eye of the beholder.

The graphics are pretty slick in my opinion, game is solid and very fun.

The puzzles are super hard for some, easy for others. Im somewhere in the middle.

I never liked the old games that much but grimrock has definitely captured my attention, although the puzzles frustrate me, even when i know the answer and im just too damn slow to get r done lol

I remember reading about Grimrock and was interested. Thanks for reminding me.

I have actually gone back in time a bit and started playing Lost Odyssey on 360. I missed out on this gem back in the day and am glad I was able to pick it up and play. I really am enjoying the story.

    Diablo 3

and as i suspected it took an extra hour or 3 to get on to play because of the whole drm/being online to play thing. But, i knew it going in.

And i will say, its typical Diablo, still a hellofalotta fun, and enough was held back in the beta even for the first playthrough to still be fun.

Finally seeing how the rune system works, still not sure it was the best way to go. They tried something new, we shall see.

I want to know whats up with the new "style" of artwork everyone seems to be shooting for in cutscenes. No more realistic looking graphics, now its all cartoonish hand painted static backround type stuff. (been a few games going this way, GW2 included) I like my realistic looking cutscenes, like back in Neverwinter days.

Ah well. Overall it was a real fun 6 hours before work, now im going to dive back in. And im still on act 1.

Yup, got her (Ming) not long ago. Really, it should be a decree that all queens dress/look like that!

As for my progress, I just got Kiam's wife and am closing in on the end of disc 2! I really LOVE the 1000 year dreams. Each one is extremely well crafted, touching, and even sad. I just wish I had more time to put into it. But my new one month old son is occupying quite a bit of it. Can't say I regret it though!

  21. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

The dreams are easily the best part. So very well written, and yes, very touching. I particularly liked how they gave you additional insight into Kaim's character and how he has changed through the years.

Diablo III. I love it. I completed the first normal mode in 35 hours, then went back thru it on nightmare and have just started in on Hell, and next comes Inferno. If I ever make it that far, hell is really tough. I also just tried out the co-op, it seems pretty good. though I would like voice chat.

Currently playing "Fate/Stay Night" by TypeMoon. The same kind of visual novel type game play as "9 hour, 9 persons, 9 doors", but with a way more supernatural twist, and much better characters. So far, it really is awesome. :)

I've been playing Skyrim, well not really playing, modding the crap out of it :-D
I couldn't resist putting the Spartan mod on, I'm Leonidas from 300, almost exact and my "Fus Ro DAH" shout is now "THIS IS SPARTA!" :major
    I'm such a boy :-D
Got all kinds of smithing and weapon packs and some sound and graphical mods.
It's crashed a lot and figuring out which mods are conflicting is time consuming :-D
But I have it running nicely at the moment with 54 mods running.

But I'm hoping to pick up Sniper Elite V2 sometime soon, loved the first one.

Never really been much of a modder except for Arma 2, so not 100% sure what I'm doing , but it's fun.

Well, I've been laid up for a few days after throwing out my back bustin' *** at work, SO I've had some time to play with a Nintendo Wii.

I actually felt like a kid again for a bit playing the "New" Super Mario Bros. It actually was a pretty fun game, and what I did find was a "Boss" super shell that the WiiMote will slip into. It makes it alot like an SNES controller, only bigger.

    Pretty cool, right?

I may have to re-try Metroid Other M while I'm at it...

Well i finally made it to inferno on Diablo 3. I think the game actually ends on hell, and they just put inferno on there to mess with us. I'm getting destroyed on act 1. I just started playing crysis 1 the other day. I picked it up at a yard sale for 5 bucks. It's pretty good, but some of the controls are bugged making it a lil tough to pick up on.

Has anyone seen the trailer for Dead Space 3? I seen the trailer on E3.... WOW! can't wait!!!

Now I am playing NFS, which is a racing game. This game is very popular all over the world and most of the people are crazy about this game. This game contains all the realistic conditions. I love to play mostly the racing games, may be that is the one of the reason why I like this game a lot.

GUN is one of my favorite games. I replay it now and again. I loved it so much when steam had it, i bought it again, as i lost my original disks. I like it better than RdR, mostly because its on my pc, not a console.

    With you there girl!

Got some great deals, although got Sale tricked :-D
Yesterday I grabbed Civilization V for $14.99, awesome..... today it's on for $7.49 dammit!
Got Far Cry collection for $4.50 and I think I bought Cities in Motion but I may have done that at like 3am, will have to check.
Also sooo pleased I picked up Just Cause 2, my boy had it but took it with him when he moved out, got it for $4.99! Such an awesome game.
But yeah some great deals on, I love Steam!
I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary on Steam in October, I'm up to 106 Games :-D

    I still blame Mimsy :-D

As for what I'm playing, holy where to start, in the past week...

Max Payne 3 ($29.99) and yes it is an excellent game.
    FEAR
    FEAR 3
    Napoleon Total War
    Toy Soldiers
    Cities XL 2012
COD: Black Ops (I enjoy just decimating in combat training)
Star Wars KOTOR (Got this for $2.49 and never have owned a Star Wars game, it's pretty good so far, only a couple of hours in though)
    Fallout 3
    Minecraft

So I've been fairly busy :-D

Restarted a minecraft world, then promptly got killed in ridiculous ways so that ended again. (i just cant play on peaceful or creative mode lol)

Avernum-escape from the pit--loved the game at first, but the difficulty level on it swings from easy to impossible, so i come and go with it, but it always keeps me coming back.

Lotro--im thinking of starting it again, have a few abandoned toons, and now that i have a direct x 11 machine, the grapics look amazing.

Max Payne 3 is indeed a great game, son bought for me for fathers day, and ive playd the crap out of it, i think im just shy of finishing it.

FF1--bought the 1,2 collection on the psn. Wish theyd sell the original Dragon Warrior , and breath of fire series other than just 4.

Eschalon books 1 and 2, always keep me coming back. Never finished 2 but 1 was awesome. Cant wait for 3.

i could list my whole library as i play them on occasion as well lol

oh and D3. Finished on normal, cant seem to care about playing again. Great game but just not nearly as addictive as D2 was for me.
