I think another reason i loved Torment, aside from awesome game and comic value, was that you didnt have to control a party of characters. I hate this new trend in making you divert your attention across multiple characters so you really never connect with the main character anymore. (at least i dont)

Example: DA:O gameplay is fantastic, graphics a good, but i never feel like the hero of the game is my character i made because im too busy controlling the other characters in my party.

And i hate that rules for you do not apply to the enemy. Seems like they can just run in and out of battle, just beyond your attack, and always just before you swing, to go and gank your mage/priest/rogue.

yeah, i still end up winning the battles and such, but it just gets annoying.

(can you tell i played some dragon age tonight lol, i needed to vent. thanks for listening ;) )

You just summed up all the reasons I playe DA on "easy"in one short post... there was too much hassle and, more importantly, too little fun and immersion if I played it any other way.

It's still a great game (Leliana and Zevran are awesome, and will be the main reasons I replay that game in the future), by anyone's standards except Bioware. From the company that gave me Jade Empire, Baldur's Gate, and Knights of the Old Republic, I expect perfection and greatness, and nothing less. :wine

True there mimz. Im with you on needing perfection from bioware since they almost always deliver =)

DeliverED. They have been slacking off lately... ME 2 was a good game, perhaps, but as RPGs go, it was a total fail in every way.

    EDIT:
You live in their town. You should storm the gates and demand a return to their roots! :p

Hey, we have been trying! I was even involved in the alpha test for SW TOR actually. If they listened to us, then they are revamping that game as we speak lol

BTW, when you say screenshots, "after modding" what modding are you doing and is it easy to do after you buy the game? ive been tossing around the idea of buying it again, but if its a hassle to get it to look like the screens youve posted, then i have way too many other things to keep playing ;)

  11. Mimsy

I re-bought the game from GOG.com, which makes modding easier. After installing (as Administrator if you're in Vista or 7), follow the guide in the first post in this thread.

I followed that guide, and have been playing with those mods/patches since, and have had no hassle at all.

    EDIT:
The wide-screen mod and GUI mode are by far the easiest and quickest ones.

Great, for 10 bucks i cant NOT try it out again. ;)

Edit: Just bought it and it looks like they gave me some free games or something too. Heres to hopin im not too stupid to do the modding lol

    Anytime. :)

I ended up not getting L4D2. I have way more games to play than time to play them, plus my wireless router is on the fritz and unreliable right now. :(

If I get it in the future I will absolutely look you up though. :)

Thats cool, i really shouldnt have bought torment for the same reasons LOL

Its been a bit buggy here and there but overall, its still a kick *** game. I love that you basically are a blank page until you just play the game and make decisions. Games today TRY to be like that but just fail so miserably.

DA 2 i think is going to be a great GAME, but like you said, itll fall flat on RPG like ME 2 since it looks like thats the way they are leaning.

Im really going to have to try to get a job at bioware as a consultant. My brain has so many damn ideas that if even ONE came to be it would rock.

Has anyone set up the Dolphin emulator, with a WiiMote, and nunchucks?

Rumor has it they are Bluetooth capable (Wii controllers), and all you need is a $25-30 for a USB 2.0 Bluetooth adapter.

Anyone got a working model? :confused

Just finished Mafia 2 which was a bit of a let down, before that I tried finishing COD4 on veteran but I got pissed off on the last mission as the bad guys can hit you everytime while running from the hip but you can't hit the side of a barn door it feels like your automatically handicapped to make it harder so I've left it till I'm more chilled out.

Playing Mass effect ATM the first one and really enjoying it,if you like resource management then you'll like Mass Effect:-DNot only do you have to manage your own resources ala RPG you have to manage your team mates resources while controlling the squad,if you don't fancy that though you don't have to you can just play it as a shooter at the beginning until you get a handle on things.

About halfway through Mass Effect and its everything I'd hoped and more, big monster sci-fi adventure through space!:-D

So I'm playing Dragon Age Awakenings, and I'm gradually becoming more and more convinced that the actor that voiced Alistair is the same one that does the voice for the apostate mage. There's some irony for you... LOL

Just bought Global Agenda. MMO, no monthly fee, 30 bucks on steam.

got a few friends who play this. Basically its an FPS(or more accurately a third person shooter) combined with MMO, in space.

Something different, no monthly fee, pretty kick *** graphics, good game mechanics, and solo friendly if careful. Im in!

And you get a jetpack! lol

Just played the single player of Medal Of Honor (the new one lol) started off a bit slow but got really good, thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so once I finished it I started again on hard difficulty.
Not much of a story and extremly short (6 hours first time through, 4 hours 2nd) but very enjoyable, nice wide variety of game modes, on ground, long sniping, helo's, AC130's , ATV's etc.... great game...... just very very short.

  32. Rikky

Rikky Wile E. Coyote - One of a kind

Yeah I'm gonna get that next when it comes out cheap,I'm not paying full price for a 6hour game, played every single MOH and expansion pack.

You played any of the COD series Ned?The new modern warfare 1+2 are both good,I got them both for PS3 for £15 so even though they are both short they are worth it,both incredibly intense. The "Death from above" mission is the most realistic level I've ever played, you control the guns in an AC-130.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNYLZQ8l1eI

Just finished Mass effect, yeah I enjoyed it,I have to say the combat was a little uninspired though basically the enemies just stood there while you fired at them you just have to make sure your weapons and upgrades out stat them which kinda sucks but it was still very enjoyable, the end of game boss was a byacchhh to kill on veteran.

    COD series?... Absolutely :-D
Loved COD2 and I played COD4 for 2 years, right up until my PS3 died, my son has it on PC but I never think to play it now lol, was a little disappointed with MW2 online, got a little cheap, Halo'ish but the Story is second to only a few and am looking forward to MW3 to finish it up. Going to take a look at Black Ops but it's Treyarch and I didn't care much for COD3 or WAW, Treyarch are often sloppy.

New MOH is bang on though, just so very short :(
Online seems ok but I've kind of lost my love for online shooters for a while.

Speaking of activation keys Mimsy,I got a free activation key for Batman Arkham Asylum which I tried to install today on steam,it said it was a duplicate key:cryProlly someone at the store copied it and activated it before me.

Now I get to play my favourite game on Monday, complain down the phone and see if I can get a something better for free!

You know I'd pay people to complain to stores for them :-D

There are lots of people here who like fps ^^' but I have been playing War Rock for half a year, so...

Personally, I prefer strategy games. I am currently playing Advance Wars again :D I love this game, it has a super soundtrack. I've played this game more than 300 hours and I am still not bored :)

I like the first person perspective because of the immersion you feel more involved in the game,I admit it its an escape.

I want every game to have a first person perspective,I'd play strtegy games if you could get in a foot soldier or tank and join in the battle you've just planned.

How would you be able to play a strategy game successfully without an isometric over-view of the battle field? :confused It would be like playing chess without being able to see the entire board.

Oh, okay. That does make a bit more sense. LOL

And I can of the top of my head think of a lot of games that should never be first-person view. Platformers, to start with...

  44. Rikky

I like first person platform,I thought the final levels on xen in half life were fun, bleak but fun:-D

Jumping for floating coins and power ups wouldn't have really fit the theme of the game either:-D

Trying out 9dragons again and remembering why i wasnt super happy with it.

Love the idea, love the implementation HATE the control scheme. Any game that you cant remap keys and still ONLY has point and click interface, needs an update.

(yes i know it was just taken over by another company, its free to play, and acclaim screwed it up anyway so maybe this co will make it better eventually)

but i do love the idea and implementation so it will keep me occupied til i get frustrated.
