Its all about what you can relate to. You fight for what you yourself can relate to, and the IT people fight for what they can relate to. However, it doesn't go the other way usually. I can't relate to the other outsourced jobs, because it has never been an issue where I live, and I am not familiar with it. OTOH, I've been directly affected by IT outsourcing. So you can kind of see where is this headed.

Outsourcing is a problem all around. But those who cry out the loudest are those who can relate to what they are fighting for.

I live within a mile of Green Valley, a retirement community. 99% of the Walmart employees are senior citizens.

My wife and I made an observation the other day while at K-Mart picking up some Xmas lights.

The quality of people (shoppers and employees) is actually much better than that of WALMART.

Let's be honest. Like 90% of the people who shop at WALMART are white trash. Now, before everyone gets all upset, I'm not calling anyone here or their aunt white trash, it's just an observation of MY local WALMART(s) (there are actually FOUR of them all within a twenty-five mile radius).

K-Mart used to be the butt of everyones shopping jokes. Basically you were a loser if your mom shopped at K-Mart. It's like a weird kind of reversal. As WALMART gets trashier, K-Mart is becoming cleaner and slightly more upscale. Maybe it just looks cleaner because WALMART is such an s-hole, and I haven't seen any "Associates" at K-Mart with prison-tattoos on their face or out front on their break smoking a cigarette while pregnant.

So oddly enough, when we need inexpensive crap, we now head for K-Mart!

    Blue-Light Special, ya'll! :)

    They all suck.

My wife prefers Target overall. TBH, its certainly cleaner and more kept up than any Walmart here.

I'm the exception to that rule. :) My job is in little danger of going anywhere, but I've spent the better part of the last ten years fighting so other people's jobs don't. I can see the big picture. I even fight for IT jobs, although I don't feel the majority of the whiny little snots who laughed at me when I asked for their help saving other jobs deserve it. ;) (that was mostly in jest, in case the sarcasm got lost in the typing)

I think WAL-MART was fine before it became the mega-super corporation it is now, when there weren't so many WAL-MART stores. Now it's gotten out of control like a virus or cancer or something; you don't notice it until your sick and it's too late.

A day will come when WAL-MART will no longer be able to grow, their profits will start to fall, and eventually will become a fallen giant. I hope that day is soon.

In one of the documentaries I spoke of earlier WAL-MART has been compared to the Nazi army; bent on world domination wiping out everything in it's path. That's a pretty harsh comparison but it sort of fits IMO.

You only have to look at McDonalds to see this isn't going to be the case ;) The world is a big small place......

That is very, very true. All hope is lost then. :(

I think the world would end if those two corporations joined forces and merged. :D Just think of this slogan - McDonalds, the WAL-MART of food. :D

I always thought the Politically correct Atheist factions shouldn't have any of the holidays that are of religious significance. Let's see - that would eliminate Christmas; Easter; Sundays, and a lot of other holidays as well. Just think of the productivity increase for the nation.

Mind you, we have Labour Day over here, and I'm not exactly a Socialist. :p Not to mention the Queen’s Birthday, notwithstanding that many ‘Pinkies’ resent the Queen, and it aint even on her birthday, any way.

well i would like to start by saying that i am from northwest arkansas ( where walmart is based at). Sam walton's dream was to provide affordlable items to everyone and every class. He would buy the goods for cheaper and would only hike the prices a small percentage while other retailers would boost percentage almost half of wholesale price.

i can pesonally tell you that walmart has created more jobs in this area than any other retailer. and if anyone wants to boycott, that is there business, but walmart has saved me at least 2000 dollars a year just on food and clothing.

if other retailers could promise me that kind of savings i would shop elseswhere. without walmart my community wouldn't be as it is. walmart gives so muche back (like shop with a cop. walmart gives free grants to police departments to come and give to children during this time of year. also it donated tons to the katrina victims.
