I notice that where it comes to Norton signature updaes, majorgeeks has a category for 2003-2007 and a category for 2008-2009, will the same be the case for McAfee signature updates? The reason I ask is that I have 2 laptops, an older Dell Latitude w/XP and McAfee Security Suite 7 for which I have been getting signature updates for a while with no problems, but, with my newer laptop, an Acer Aspire 5735 w/Vista and the McAfee Security Center that came with the laptop and purchased on 12/16/2008 when I download the signature updates for the Acer and try to install them via the Superdat download, I'm told that it cannot locate a qualifying product for the update. Is there a separate version for the newer McAfee version and for the Vista version, and if so, where do I find it? Thanks guys.:):confused

I posted this inquiry yesterday and I'm surprised that the moderators or any members who might use McAfee have not responded. Does anyone know if there is a separate signature update for the vista os as oposed to xp or is there some trick to getting the superdat signature updates to install on the vista machine and the newer McAfee Security Center version? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Well you posted in the wrong forum and we work according to the guidelines stated in our sticky thread: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!! Meaning we work on oldest threads first and your was not the oldest. It just became the oldest now. You really should have posted this in the Software Forum as that it what it is really more related to.

No one in this forum uses McAfee or Symantec.

I will move this to the Software Forum for you and will refer this to NICK ADSL UK as I assume you were referring to information in this forum Virus Software Updates (Read Only)

    Hi drepper :)
As you are aware all of acer vista computers come with a 60 day trial period. all you need to do is to set your software to automatic where it will update automatically or to Manuel and update your software as you see fit. As far as I'm aware there is nothing more for you to do and if your software cant find a qualifying product then i would suspect your software has developed a fault and will need to be reinstalled.

do make sure you have registered this software as failure to do so will activate a pop up box to act as a reminder to do so.

THERE ARE DATs DOWNLOADS AND SUPERDATs DOWNLOADS DO MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD DATs from here. personally i would i would let your software update itself to avoid any confusion
