    Hi,
I'm brand new to this site & I am desperate for help! :confused

We just recently aquired this computer from a friend of my son's. Putting it very mildly, it's a flippin' MESS!

Almost every time I try to open a web page, I get a red screen with the following message:

"This website has been reported as unsafe.

We strongly recommend to discontinue use of this website.

This website has been reported to microsoft for containing threats that might steal personal and financial information from your computer."

I even got this message coming into and trying to move through THIS
    website!!

I am beyond frustrated. I am certain I have bugs, worms, horses and whatever else is out there. :(

I haven't been on the internet for about about 1 1/2 years. So what all ugly stuff that's out there, is all foreign to me. I do know that whatever programs he had on this computer ie. Norton, MS security, etc. is all beyond expired. It keeps asking to update, and when I try, it wants anywhere from $50.00 to $129.00. I don't want to put any money into this thing if it's beyond help. And of course, the guy my son got this from, has none of the disks needed to reformat etc.

Are there any freeware programs that I can download to see if its even salvageable? (is that even a word? LOL)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    BabyG :)

Am I supposed to post this message to a different forum now? Or just wait for a reply here?

Ok ... I tried the READ AND RUN but, I don't understand what I'm doing, and whenever I try to navigate to another page, I get that screen that says this website is unsafe.

So, since no one responded to my post, I'll have to try & find help else where.

    You can delete this thread

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
It takes time to get a response like on most popular sites. You should have read the stickies to begin with especially this one: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!! Impatience just caused you more delay.

All sites have procedures you need to follow like our READ & RUN ME which is the required starting point. If you cannot run that then you need to explain exactly why since it is what we need to help you. The proecudure with Tips and Notes we give everyone to help them move along are posted in many many threads. I will repeat them below for you.
    ================================

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Apparently she found "help" elsewhere. Since she responded looking for a response within 25 minutes, then emailed me that she would never come back because we were so slow (wow the people with families and careers working for FREE didnt respond until next morning), be sure not to help her when her infection comes back. She can take it to the store and cry over the $300 charge and week long wait.

Sorry, AOL user (typical) we would have fixed it for free the first time. Lay off the meth, it's bad for you.
