For the last ten days I've been back and forth battling with something that I simply can't seem to kill. Trendmicro's housecall removed several rootkits that were obviously caused by it (it's the only thing to find anything), but it doesn't seem to have entirely stopped, and it hasn't found a rootkit in a few days. What its been doing is screwing with my hard drive and trying to fill it with junk (aka a zombie or something like that). Registry Mechanic has been amazing at holding the fort while I've tried to target this thing from any other direction. I know quite a bit about computers, but the registry level is a bit too much for me to venture on my own. I did notice the ton of svchosts, two csrss.exe, and the extra rundll that vanished sometime ago (saw it while in task manager). However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to take such a risk myself at dealing with anyone.

What keeps happening is I start getting hit by it again, and I basically fight it back through various means. I just can't seem to find the source so I can actually kill it. (Apparently, I *think* anytime it hits, registry mechanic detects registry errors). Meanwhile my available memory is completely inconsistent, especially as it causes it to drop. Something very similar caused me to reformat (Though I got much of the data off safely) a few months ago, but this isn't quite the same because the other one blocked scanners and this doesn't. I do have plenty of memory left, that last one wasn't nearly so gentle.

Oh, about the rules, I pretty much never use the AVG, and its the Free version, while Kaspersky is full. I've just never gotten around to deleting it (This thing came with Norton's and it took me ages to finally bother). Anyway... I'm not sure if I'm doing this right because I've never come to a forum for help before... But this is basically my last real shot of finding this thing. Running around to cure random damage has been draining, and its been screwing with my sleep.

On a side note, almost everything on the "Run" list already, is something I've already run before coming here, and its done absolutely nothing. I've also run a few things on the second page of it as well, and they have also found nothing. I deleted viewpoint and ran CCleaner right before this report.

Also, right before posting, I noticed this. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Authentium\AntiVirus5\vseamps.exe. I went to its folder, and I have no idea what this is.

Umm... If I screwed this up, just don't be jerks please.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You actually have 3 antivirus programs installed. AVG, Authentium, and Kaspersky. You MUST uninstall all of them now to try and correct any damage from doing this.

You need to complete 100% of our instructions and attach all 5 logs that we ask for. You will notice that we do not ask for a HijackThis log as they are not that useful and it is already embedded into our procedures. So to be clear, you need to do the below.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Like I said about Athentium or whatever it was... I don't even know what it is or how it even got on my computer. I never remember even downloading or installing that.

Yes I saw what you said, and I was informing you that it is an antivirus program. And it is something you installed. Like when you installed software from your ISP since they are known to use this.
