    Hi Geeks,

I've got a machine that is Vista x64, and suffering the internet redirects.

I did a complete scan as your read & run me and Vista Cleaning guide go. Due to 64-bit O/S, there are only three logs, SAS, MBAM and MGLogs.

Thought it was clean after everything. Went to the internet, did a couple of random searches, and clicked the first 4 or 5 links, everything was as it should be. Even searched "antivirus" and clicked the top 4 links (Avast, McAfee, AVG, Norton), no problems. Did the clean up per instructions, and told her to let me know if there were any more issues.

She called me tonight explaining the redirects were back and the comp. was freezing up and needed to be rebooted a couple times.

    Logs posted.

Thanks for all the help, it's appreciated.

NOTE: The malware fighters here at MajorGeeks are volunteers who donate our free time doing malware removal for individuals and we prefer not to do this kind of work for those who are being paid for our work instead of their own.

Yes, I couldn't agree more Dr M, This is a user who I believe I told I would assist once and once only for the exact reasons you stated above. Makes me wonder how much they got paid for my hard work, free time and dedication. :(

Wow, guys, I'm really sorry. I understand. :-o

Kestrel13!, you did help me out last week, and I really appreciated it. Honestly, I didn't notice the "one time" comment, my apologies. I'm not trying to make money off of free help, I'm trying to learn more about this.

You can see I wasn't hiding the company aspect of me as a member, so I hope you believe me when I say there was no malice meant.

I'm a new self funded start-up, and have kinda fallen into doing virus removals. As a new company in this economy, I can't really afford to turn it away. I came across this site, and really want to be a part of it. So I made a few posts expecting to learn a lot, and thinking maybe I could help out as I learn more.

Forget this post, I won't post anything more that has anything to do with a customer. I wasn't trying to take advantage.

Thanks for the previous help, and sorry about making you feel used, that certainly wasn't my intention. The help everyone here offers is top notch.

And we appreciate your honesty. I know our comments sound harsh. We just feel strongly about this. I also understand your desire to learn and soak up knowledge regarding malware removal. So, for a great opportunity to boost your skills and better run your company without depending on sites designed to remove malware, how about training to do it yourself? :)

I was going to ask, but figured no one has time to teach, and didn't expect a "boot camp" type thing. I'm heading to those pages right now. Thanks for the reading, I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to assist sometime, I mean it.

Thank you, that's kind of you to say.

And FTR, I didn't think you (or Dr. M) came off harsh at all. It's understandable to feel used, and that was the reason I mentioned in my threads it was for a customer of mine, so no one would feel they had been tricked.

    Thanks again, buddy!
