    I posted this in the wrong section so I am copying and pasting here-----

    I am fixing the bosses computer and this i.nuseek Re-Direct is giving me a heck of a time. I have run Malewarebytes, Superanti Spyware, Combofix, TDDSKILLER and a few other things oh ya.... Wise Registry Cleaner, and ATF-Cleaner.exe (which I figered were the same thing).
    Any Ideas

    Check out my Task Mgr Pic. The highlighted item seems suspicious to me.

    Also I couldn't find the SuperAntisypyware Logs. I looked in Program files in the SAS folder, I opened up SAS and tried to look where it was storing it. To no avail.

    You ran a very old version of TDSSKiller, please follow the below instructions:

    http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/3557/tdsskiller.gif I want you to read and follow these instructions: TDSSKiller - How to run

    http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6703/generalxpicon.gif Please download MBRCheck by clicking here and save it to your desktop.

    • Double-click on the file to run it. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    • A window will open on your desktop.
    • If an unknown bootcode is found you will have further options available to you, at this time press N then press Enter twice.
    • If nothing unusual is found just press Enter.
    • A .txt file named MBRCheck_mm.dd.yy_hh.mm.txt should appear on your desktop.
    • Attach that file to your next message. (How to attach)

    Whenever you complete the above post, you can start on the below:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/6741/addremovexp.gif From Add/Remove Programs (via Control Panel), please uninstall the below:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

    See if this helps >> SUPERAntiSpyware - running & getting a log

    http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4756/msmsg.gif Please download Disable/Remove Windows Messenger by Doug Knox to your desktop.

    http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4930/combofix.gif Fixing items using ComboFix
    Make sure that ComboFix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your desktop -- but do not run it.
    If it is not on your desktop, the below will not work.
    Shut down your protection software now (antivirus, antispyware...etc) to avoid possible conflicts.
    Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into Notepad:
    Code:
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]KillAll::[/COLOR]
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]ClearJavaCache::[/COLOR]
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]DirLook::[/COLOR]
    C:\x
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]FileLook::[/COLOR]
    c:\windows\system32\TubeFinder.exe
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]Folder::[/COLOR]
    C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Conduit
    c:\program files\Conduit
    C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\temp\STOPzilla!
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]RegLock::[/COLOR]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\DbgagD\1*]
    "value"="?\0b\03\17\02\04,y"

    Save this file as CFScript.txt to your desktop. So now you should have both CFScript.txt and ComboFix.txt on your desktop.
    Now use your mouse to drag CFScript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe and then release.
    http://softvisia.com/users/Night_Raven/Security/cfsdnd2.gif
    This will launch ComboFix.
    Note: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
    Allow ComboFix to update itself if prompted.
    When ComboFix finishes, a log will be produced at C:\ComboFix.txt
    Attach this log to your next message. (How to attach)

    http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9049/javaz.gif Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Put your computer back into Normal Startup Mode and reboot before proceeding to the next step. See >> Use MSconfig to setup for Normal Startup Mode

    http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/945/baticonxp.gif Now run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat by double-clicking it.
    This updates all of the logs inside MGlogs.zip.
    When it is finished, attach C:\MGlogs.zip to your next message. (How to attach)

    Let me know how the PC is running.

    I am doing things one by one.

    It found a "Non-Standard or Infected MBR"

    Do I want to Dump or Restore?

    I got it. You said "At this time click "N" and exit. So thats what I did.

    OK I think I did everything. When running Combofix it wanted me to stop Avast from running. I could not. It was not in my task bar and when I click the Icon in Program files it gave me an error. I did not want to cancel Combofix so it ran with it on. After I uninstalled and reinstalled it. (it took 4 times) I didn't know if I should re-run Combofix or not. I didn't. It took over an hour for it to run the first time. Here are the logs.

    ALSO I do keep getting that strange EXE in my Taskmgr that I highlighted in my first logs. I "End Process Tree" as soon as I see it.

    It would not let me upload Combofix logs because it exceeds the size limit. It was 500 or so Kbs
    I am going to split it up in 2 parts so look for part 1 and part 2

    Next time do not kill it whenever you getting new logs for me to review because I can't see where that suspicious .exe is running from.

    MBRCheck reports the following:
    Code:
        232 GB \\.\PhysicalDrive0 Unknown MBR code
                SHA1: EC5B6F4B08268D5344F30BFF61C8B587F034795B
    Unknown doesn't necessarily mean infected so I want to make sure... Are you still getting redirected?

  12. carmello2003

    Kill It? Not sure what you mean.
    Not getting redirected anymore. Am I clean?

    Kill / end process -- same thing :-D

    Make sure these folders highlighted in bold do not exist:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Conduit
    • c:\program files\Conduit
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\temp\STOPzilla!

    If they still appear, delete them.

    The rest of your logs look good.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis if it present
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:

    Wisdom-soft Set up ScreenHunter 5.1 Free <--- Is this something you use?

    I have a feeling this is where that suspicious process is coming from. You may want to uninstall this to see if it helps.

    Stopzilla was not.

    Conduit was in both places. I deleted it from Temp files but it wouldn't let me delete it from Program files.
    I renamed it, the folder and the DLL file that was in it one by one and No Go.
    The folder in it is called "Community Alerts". Then in that folder was a Alert.dll

    I do use "ScreenHunter. Thats how I took a pic of my Taskmgr to upload here.
    I'll play with it and see it it shows up when it starts up.

    Running Malwarebytes and SAS agan.
    Thanks again for your help
    Carl
