    logs from READ and RUN.
    One issue.
    Upon logging into Major Geeks my AVG stopped two threats. I still need to allow AVG to completely scan my system and hopefully that will take care of the remaining issues.

    I am running windows xp 32bit. IE was redirecting, and entire computer slowing to a crawl. When I pulled up task manager and checked on proccesses one called ping.exe was eating up all of my cpu capability. I could end proccess and it would come right back.

    I posted in software, went to Read and Run Me first and followed the directions. I then ignorantly posted my logs back to my original thread (What is ping.exe) in the software forum.

    I appologize for the extra trouble.

    I am however still experiencing some issues. My browser is still opening an extra window that takes me to random shopping pages. I can use Alt F4 to close them, but it is annoying. This only seems to happen once when I first lauch IE.

    Thank You
    Michael.

    I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

    Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.

    @Kestrel13!,

    I would research what the below are for:
    Also the below is questionable:

    @MichaelinTn,

    Do you know what they are?

    @Chas, does it relates to something called "Webwatcher"?

    I don't know, but I don't see that installed. Perhaps Michael will know the answer.

    No I do not know what those are.
    My initial post after I went through the Read and Run steps was incorrect. I am apparently still having problems with the ping.exe eating up my cpu capability. Only now it seems to be sporadic. Last night I checked by launching IE and it was there. So far this morning no problem.

    Uninstall the below outdated Java.
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 16

    Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    c:\windows\lhsp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\ohwqfw
    C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Application Data\ICS

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\svchost]
    "svcboot_kvabm"=-
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0}]

    FileLook::
    c:\windows\system32\config\atww\filesvc.sys
    c:\windows\system32\config\atww\procdrv.sys
    c:\windows\system32\config\atww\regfil.sys

    File::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Templates\7VJ5
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\7VJ5
    C:\Windows\system32\crypt32(3).dll

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    -----------------
    Can you now run TDDSKiller and MBRCheck as I instructed if you have not done so already. Attach the logs please with other requested logs.
    -----------------

    Could you please get this: regfil.sys into a zipped file and attach it for me in your next post? To do this, see the below:

    Please go to start > Run and paste in the following:
    log retrievable @ C:\collect.zip

    Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    @ Kestrel13

    I am unable to Uninstall the Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    The Java(TM) 6 Update 16 has been uninstalled.

    When I try to uninstall the first java I get the attached messages. I attempted to download revouninstaller , but I have already used my free time for that program.
    Should I continue with your instructions?
    Is there another uninstaller I can use?

    I was unable to find the regfil.sys zip file in the specified location. I copied the text and ran it twice, but was still unable to locate the collect.zip file you wanted.
