I think I did everything in the sticky thread to get this fixed but did not work.

    What should I do next?

The redirect is happening for every single browser I have.

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.

Then DO NOT stop, continue on with the below instructions too please.

Please disable Utorrent from running at start up whilst I am working with you. ;)

Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Folder::
    c:\program files (x86)\Conduit
    c:\users\$$ White Boi $$\AppData\Local\Conduit
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\U

    File::
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\cfg.ini
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\version

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

Re run TDSSKiller and attach the new log please.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Ok I have a weird problem now. I did the combo fix step. Got a log and then fan TDSSkiller. It found a Trojan I believe.. and it keeps finding the same one no matter if you quarantine it. It still comes back

But as soon as I did a reboot from the completion of TDSSkikler, Windows is unable to to start up and my machine keeps restarting. The startup repair thing also does not fix this problem, cannot even get on through safemode. The only other option is to go back to the restore point from combofix. So I'm in the process of that right now.. ill see if the combo fix log is still there and attach it. But I doubt it will give me a log from TDSSkiller.

What should I do next? Im not really seeing an error. It just says it was probably caused from recent installation of software or hardware. But I don't have any new hardware and the only software I've been downloading is from this forum helping me.

    ok here's the combofix log

Any idea on what's causing the windows startup problem? Hopefully its just from one of the trojans that were trying to remove?

It is in C:\MGTools\Getlogs.bat. If you REALLY cannot see it then you must run the C:\MGTools.exe again in order to produce a C:\MGlogs.zip.

Then tell me if the redirects persist! :)

Hmm not sure what's going on... MGtools.exe was no where to be found either.. Re downloaded it, ran it, and it did not create a .zip this time around and the redirect problem is still happening. tried rebooting and that didn't help

You did not disable utorrent from running at start up as requested. Please do that now before we continue. If you do not know how then I can have you run a small fix.

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

I disabled Utorrent when requested. I unchecked the box that says run at startup. It's not showing in my toolbar unless its running hidden?

Wouldnt let me edit last message, but, I'm still getting random pop ups from time to time, no matter what site I go to. I even have disable popups checked on my browsers..

but the redirect seems to be gone

    Delete these empty directories:

    • C:\Users\$$ White Boi $$\AppData\Local\{B7CEE496-1438-4440-ABD1-B173A6F08C5C}
    • C:\Users\$$ White Boi $$\AppData\Local\{A2A6E433-32D7-4764-8886-AE41D6153297}
    • C:\Users\$$ White Boi $$\AppData\Local\TempDIR

    You sure now?
Yep, you need to install a pop up blocker.

  17. WhiteBoi360

    WhiteBoi360 Private First Class

k I deleted the mentioned directories. and yes the redirect is gone

and are you sure I need a pop up blocker? I generally use firefox and i have it set to disable popups but they keep coming from time to time. they are random. even if I leave the computer and do not open any websites i will still get them

this has never happened before until the redirect got me

If I don't have my pop up blocker on (I use Firefox with adblocker plus extension) then I see all kinds of junk across my screen! :) Give it a whirl, and then we can talk about other browsers.

Also, just to really cover all angles and dig a bit deeper still.... (It takes time be patient!!)

Run this and attach the results.

OK, that found a couple of things that I missed or were not visible to me, but the other stuff is what we have in quarantine, and a false positive regarding the mgtools.

Things still running ok? If so....

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

As I was doing the last steps, I rebooted my pc and now I'm getting a windows startup error. I can't even get into Windows. The startup repair tool didn't work and it won't let me do a system restore. It says there isn't a restore point...

I am afraid that you will have to post about this in the software forum as it is beyond the scope of the Malware forum. Sorry this has happened to you, I can assure you it was not caused by any of our tools that we used in our procedures. I just hope it does not signify a failing hard drive. Best of luck with it all. You need to let the folks know in software whether you have your Win 7 boot cd or not.

That's ok I appreciate all the help. Everything is fine and up and running. There is another problem now and that is that my internet will not work. I think it said my network bridge driver is bad or something. Wad perfectly fine until I couldn't get Windows going.. but now Windows is back and running, the internet won't work on said pc.

  35. thisisu

    thisisu Malware Consultant

Well these are hidden, you won't see them normally through Device Manager. These are fine, it's what you are missing (your ethernet controllers) that is the problem.

Do you know how to uninstall and reinstall ethernet adapter?

Posting some instructions for you in case you don't.

    Open the Device Manager

The Device Manager opens, look for: Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

It may have a question mark by it or is simply labeled "Ethernet Controller".
Regardless, if you see it right mouse click: Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)
    Choose "Uninstall".
You be asked to confirm your actions, choose OK and let it uninstall.
If it asks you if you want to delete the driver software / files too, say No.
When you have done this and Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) is no longer in the Device Manager list -- Press the Scan for hardware changes button (http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/2868/scanhardware.png) or Action -> Scan for hardware changes
Allow it to reinstall your network adapter.
    Reboot for changes to occur.
Test internet once you have rebooted.

Try to do this now and report back if you were successful or not.

I see, try the instructions I posted. Most likely you will be looking for "Ethernet Controller" with a yellow question mark symbol next to it. Uninstall this if you see it.

That one was not listed. I posted that a few posts down

Edit: sorry didn't see the newest post. Must of updated after I sent last one. I'll try that once I can get my display to come back on. Saw a thread to take the RAM out and put back in cause it helped others... Did that and now can't get my screen to come back
